Audi A6 e-tron (2024) Unveiled: A Closer Look at Interior, Trunk Space, and Infotainment Advances Amidst Material Quality Concerns
Audi A6 e-tron (2024): Exploring the Interior and Trunk Space
The car introduces cutting-edge infotainment and offers ample space, although the quality of materials used could be better.
Just two days ago, Audi unveiled its first electric A6 model to the global public. The A6 e-tron is available in both Sportback and Avant versions. According to the manufacturer, the design and driving range are the top priorities. Judging by its close resemblance to the 2021 A6 e-tron concept design and the impressive WLTP-certified driving range of up to 750 kilometers, it seems they've achieved these goals quite successfully.
We're now going to take a closer look at a part of the car that's probably quite important to many customers – the interior.
The dashboard of the Audi A6 e-tron closely resembles that of its SUV counterpart, the Q6 e-tron, which we've had the opportunity to evaluate. The configuration and tech features, such as the expansive widescreen setup (consisting of 11.9-inch instruments alongside a 14.5-inch infotainment screen), the fresh 10.9-inch display for the passenger, and a significantly larger augmented reality head-up display, are impressive.
Similar to the Q6, the choice of materials could have been made with more care. The build quality isn't the issue, however, certain aspects within do seem rather basic.

The optional Bang & Olufsen sound system, featuring speakers integrated into the headrests, is quite noteworthy. In practice, this allows the passenger to stream media seamlessly while the driver is engaged in a phone call or listening to navigation instructions. Moreover, the voice control has seen significant enhancements, now incorporating ChatGPT capabilities.
The promotional images of the Audi A6 e-tron may suggest otherwise, but surprisingly, the interior is dominated by a considerable amount of basic, hard plastic. Although the new curved display is undoubtedly an eye-catcher and well-integrated, it's evident in various areas that the hefty price tag of the large batteries necessitates cost-cutting measures elsewhere.
The rear seating area of the new A6 e-tron is quite spacious.
A standout feature is definitely the new panoramic glass roof, which offers adjustable levels of transparency.
The Audi A6 e-tron maximizes its size (4.93 meters in length, 2.94 meters wheelbase) to provide exceptional legroom in the back seats. Even with its sporty, coupe-like shape, there's ample headroom available.
The trunk space of the Audi A6 Avant e-tron
The trunk space of the A6 e-tron Sportback ranges from 502 to 1,422 liters. Its Avant counterpart has a slightly larger capacity, offering an additional 90 liters. In comparison, the current A6 Avant with a combustion engine boasts a cargo space of 565 to 1,680 liters. Additionally, under the front hood, which can be opened with a swipe gesture, there's a 27-liter 'frunk' primarily designed to store the charging cable.
This is currently happening at Audi as well.
