Fabio Quartararo Criticizes Yamaha’s Disorganized Test Team Amid Strategic Shifts and New Partnerships
Fabio Quartararo Describes Yamaha's Test Team as "Somewhat Disorganized"
Fabio Quartararo shares his opinion on Yamaha's testing roster.
Fabio Quartararo has expressed that Yamaha’s MotoGP test team is currently disorganized, highlighting the significance of the collaboration with Pramac for the 2025 season.
In the lead-up to the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend, Yamaha revealed that Jack Miller will be joining Pramac on a one-year contract, partnering with Miguel Oliveira.
Yamaha will once again have a satellite team, the first time since 2022, and this team will receive full factory backing to aid in the advancement of the M1.
The testing squad is preparing to bring on board Augusto Fernandez, who is leaving his position as a Tech3 GASGAS rider. Additionally, there are rumors connecting Andrea Dovizioso, a winner of 15 MotoGP races, to a potential role following his recent test rides on the motorcycle.
Due to Cal Crutchlow's struggles with injuries this year and the absence of a satellite team for Yamaha, the bulk of the testing responsibilities have fallen on Quartararo and Alex Rins.
However, Quartararo currently thinks that Yamaha is progressing in a way that will significantly enhance the performance of the bike.
He started by explaining that the plan for the year was to establish a factory satellite team and enhance the test team.
"The testing team is somewhat disorganized, making it challenging to conduct tests and approve items."
"Therefore, Alex and I are responsible for conducting tests both during the race weekend and during private testing sessions."
“It was challenging. Right now, Dovi is conducting some tests. His feedback has been very positive."
"Augusto's participation isn't fully confirmed yet, but things are looking promising. Additionally, having Jack and Miguel on the factory motorcycles will significantly aid in the bike's development."
"In my opinion, joining Yamaha has numerous benefits, and I believe the motorcycle will see significant enhancements."
Quartararo had a solid performance at the San Marino Grand Prix the previous weekend, securing a seventh-place finish after advancing straight into the second qualifying session.
After a successful testing session on the Monday after the race, the French rider believes that the M1 is progressing well.
“The results of the test were very encouraging,” he mentioned.
"We've put in considerable effort, focusing particularly on the chassis, which now seems to be showing signs of improvement."
"However, with any luck, we can secure a spot in Q2 right from Friday, which would alter our weekend plans entirely. We aim to contend for a top 10 position starting from Friday."
