Resilient Hamilton Vows to ‘Give It Absolutely Everything’ After Azerbaijan Setback Ahead of Singapore GP
Lewis Hamilton is determined to put in his maximum effort following a disappointing performance at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. He remarked that the situation unexpectedly deteriorated and the remainder of the weekend was quite disheartening.
Lewis Hamilton is optimistic about recovering from a disappointing F1 race in Baku as he looks ahead to the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend.
Beginning the race from the pit lane because of an engine swap, Hamilton managed to climb back to secure a ninth-place finish.
The seven-time world champion managed to earn points in Baku solely because Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez collided on the second-to-last lap.
Hamilton is ready to "put in maximum effort" at this weekend's race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, maintaining a positive outlook.
In an interview with F1TV, Hamilton expressed, "Reflecting on the last weekend over the past few days has been quite significant. The week began on a high note; I spent time at the factory working on the simulator, which isn't something I do frequently. I prepared thoroughly and felt confident from the very first lap."
"Suddenly, it slipped away from us, making the rest of the weekend quite unpleasant. There are numerous factors that could explain it. We are all deeply invested and everyone is putting in immense effort. As we approach this weekend, we're determined to give it our all."
"Regardless of the outcome, we have to accept it. We're at a stage in the season where we must put in our maximum effort. If things don't turn out as we hope, it's important not to let it discourage us. We need to maintain a positive attitude. With seven more chances ahead, we will give it our all."
Hamilton regretted a poorly constructed part on his Mercedes.
Following the race on Sunday, Hamilton disclosed that it was only after the qualifying session that the team realized something was off with his car.
Considering that matter, he mentioned: "There are numerous factors involved. Earlier with the car, it underwent significant modifications, such as altering the mechanical balance at both high and low speeds by a substantial amount."
"You can either make significant adjustments to the camber, or modify the front or rear suspension heave unit. After the last race, I felt great about the car and told them not to alter it too much."
"They were just minor tweaks, but one of the parts ended up doing the exact opposite of its intended function. We only discovered this at the end of the day. On Saturday morning, I got into the car and immediately felt significant understeer, which seemed unusual. The team reassured me that the car was set up correctly. It wasn't until later in the day that we realized something was wrong."
