Abschied vom BMW X4: Kein Nachfolger für das Mittelklasse Coupé-SUV geplant
BMW has announced the discontinuation of the X4 model
There will not be a successor for the coupe-style SUV
BMW has confirmed that there will be no third-generation X4. The announcement came during the unveiling of the new X3, where it was made clear that the mid-sized coupe-SUV no longer fits into the Bavarian manufacturer's product lineup.
BMW has indeed determined that the X4 has limited room for maneuver in its pricing due to its position between the newly expanded X2, which has grown in terms of size, engines, and features, and the larger X6 that satisfies the demands of discerning customers.

According to BMW, in practical terms, newer and "conquest customers," meaning those experiencing BMW for the first time, can opt for the new X2, while those looking for an upgrade can turn to the larger X6 model.
According to BMW, those in the market for an SUV of a similar size to the X4, which is around 4.70 meters, would find the newly revamped and more athletic X3 to be the "perfect" choice.

The official date for the discontinuation of the existing X4 model produced in the Spartanburg plant in the US has not been announced yet, but it's expected to be sometime between 2025 and 2026. The current model, known internally as G02, was launched in 2018. It underwent a model update in 2021.
A quick comparison of the exterior dimensions of the new BMW X2 and X4 reveals the striking similarities between the two coupe SUVs.
The latest BMW X2 model measures at a length of 4.55 meters, in comparison to the BMW X4 which stretches out to approximately 4.75 meters. This denotes a notable difference of about 20 centimeters in length. When it comes to width, the X4 takes the lead by nearly 7 centimeters and it also stands 3 centimeters taller than its smaller sibling, the X2.

There's still a noticeable gap in power and features between the X2 and X4 engines, but the second-generation X2 has evolved to the point where it nearly meets all demands, including those for a fully electric version.
According to the table mentioned above, the latest BMW X2 model has the capability to cater to a wider array of requirements, particularly targeting those who desire a variety of options, such as younger buyers or first-time BMW owners. There will not be a new iX3; instead, the production version of the Neue Klasse X concept will fill its position. It remains uncertain whether there will be a variant similar to the X4.
