Von Reben und Rädern: Maserati feiert italienischen Wein mit dem exklusiven GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello
Maserati GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello: A Smooth One-Off
Italian car honors Italian wine…
The Italians have a knack for living the good life. They're celebrated for their delectable cuisine, fiery sports cars, and premium wines. Now, two of these cultural staples are coming together as Maserati pays tribute to one of the nation's most popular red wines with a special edition model.
In Germany, a rather dull designation such as "VW Passat TDI Müller-Thurgau" might be expected, whereas in Italian, it transforms into a lyrical masterpiece: "Maserati GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello".
The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello represents a custom-built variant of the fully electric GranCabrio Folgore, created through the bespoke customization service of Maserati Fuoriserie. This distinctive automobile has been crafted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tignanello, a red wine renowned for its influence and innovation, specifically for the Marchesi Antinori winery. The car is set to go under the hammer on July 14, 2024, during the Napa Valley Festival at the prestigious "Arts for All" gala in California, an event recognized as one of the premier charitable arts events in the United States.
The exterior paint of the luxury car, named "Terra di Tignanello," features a chestnut hue, drawing inspiration from the vineyard's soil. This shade is complemented by a coppery burgundy, reminiscent of the signature red barrels associated with Tignanello. The wheels and brake calipers sport a sleek black, contrasted by copper-colored emblems. The convertible top is also crafted in black fabric.
The interior of the vehicle features seats upholstered in leather, embellished with a ribbed fabric design in silver and burgundy. This cutting-edge textile, known as Vegea, is intended to evoke the appearance of vineyard rows on the Tignanello hill. The panels are adorned with dark briarwood that has been laser-engraved and includes textual information about the origins of Tignanello. An exquisite embroidery on the headrest intertwines the Maserati trident with Tignanello's trademark symbol: the sun, which has long been a distinctive feature on the wine's label. This same emblem is laser-engraved onto the central tunnel.
The GranCabrio Folgore marks a milestone as the first all-electric convertible in the luxury car sector and stands out as the fastest electric convertible available. It's powered by an advanced 800-volt battery system, ensuring top-notch performance while maintaining Maserati's signature comfort and sophistication. With an impressive 560 kW, it meets all expectations for peak power output. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.9 seconds and doesn't stop until it hits 290 km/h. However, pushing the vehicle to these limits will likely significantly reduce the promised 450 km range.
