Pagani Utopia Roadster: Kunstwerk und Leistungsbolide in Einem – Das 3,1 Millionen Euro teure Coupé-Äquivalent
The Pagani Utopia Roadster maintains the same lightweight design as the Coupe
One of the world's fastest hairdryers boasts 864 horsepower at 1,280 kilograms and offers two different roof options
Nearly two years ago, in September 2022, Pagani introduced the Utopia, their third model series following the Zonda in 1999 and the Huayra in 2011. This rolling sculpture, aptly named after an idyllic world, is an exuberant blend of Art Deco, 1950s Futurama aesthetics, and a touch of Steampunk. Now, enthusiasts have the option to experience the Utopia with an open-air feature.
The Utopia Roadster shares its engineering and the majority of its parts with the coupe version. Impressively, it doesn't weigh any more than the fixed-roof model. This is largely due to the carbon monocoque made from Pagani's proprietary materials, Carbo-Titanium HP62 G2, and Carbo-Triax HP62. Both the front and rear subframes are constructed from CrMo-Alloy steel.

The convertible roof is where Pagani truly showcases its artistry. When not in use—which one would hope is often with a roadster—the hardtop can be placed on a specially designed stand, transforming it into a piece of art to be viewed and appreciated.
Moreover, as if the impressive design element wasn't enough, the Italians also provide a soft top that can be packed away into a suitable case, which in turn can be stored behind the two seats. By the way, the butterfly doors are also retained on the Roadster.
The images clearly showcase the carbon tub, which not only contributes to the Roadster's rigidity, eliminating the need for extra reinforcements, but also shapes the design of the open-top Utopia. As is common with mid-engine convertibles, this results in a design that leans more towards a Targa-style appearance.
The standout feature is a relatively large rear window which, of course, the coupe version does not possess. Beyond that, the interior of the Roadster maintains the same level of meticulous, analog, and artful design as its coupe counterpart.
The open-top Utopia is powered by a six-liter AMG twin-turbo V12 engine, similar to the coupe, delivering 864 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 1,100 Nm of torque between 2,800 and 5,900 RPM. Transmission choices include a 7-speed automated manual gearbox from Xtrac, as well as a 7-speed manual gearbox. Both options are equipped with an electromechanical differential.
Pagani has not disclosed the time it takes for the Utopia Roadster to accelerate from 0-100 km/h. However, we do know that its top speed is electronically limited to 350 km/h. It's unlikely there's a faster hair dryer anywhere on the planet.
The exhaust fumes from the V12 are released through a titanium exhaust system featuring the classic four-pipe configuration. It's coated with a ceramic layer designed to efficiently dissipate heat. The entire system is said to weigh a mere 6 kilograms.
The convertible, like the coupe, relies on double wishbone axles made from forged aluminum and electronically controlled shock absorbers. The carbon-ceramic brakes are supplied by Brembo. At the front axle, there are 6-piston calipers and 410-mm discs, while at the rear, there are 4-piston calipers and 390-mm discs.

The crafted aluminum wheels are sized at 21 inches in the front and 22 inches in the rear. Pirelli has provided a completely new tire for this model. Named the Cyber Tyre, it's been exclusively designed for this vehicle and comes equipped with sensors on the inside that transmit data to the ABS, ESP, traction control, and other systems to enhance performance based on driving conditions. Alongside the PZero Corsa, the convertible also offers its own PZero Trofeo RS and a PZero Winter. The tire dimensions are 265/35 R21 for the front and 325/30 R22 for the rear.
The Pagani Utopia Roadster will make its debut appearance at the Monterey Car Week, an event drawing the affluent and elite to California from August 9 to 18 this year. Those interested in the convertible model will need to shell out 3.1 million euros before taxes, which would amount to just under 3.7 million euros in Germany. A total of 130 units of this model are slated for production.
