Mini Cooper 5-Türer (2024): Evolution statt Revolution – Ein Klassiker im neuen Gewand
Upcoming Mini Five-Door (2024): Fresh Look, Familiar Foundation
The current model is set to receive an extensive makeover, taking cues from the new three-door design.
In recent times, the spotlight on Mini has been dominated by the entirely new models such as the Aceman, Countryman, and the three-door variant. But what about the existing five-door version? The rumors that have been circulating are now confirmed: the successor will be a significantly updated refresh of the present model.
Thus, Mini is somewhat emulating the approach taken by BMW with their latest 1 Series, which isn't an entirely new vehicle either. The future Mini 5-Door's body measurements are almost the same as its predecessor, measuring 4,036 mm in length, 1,744 mm in width, and 1,464 mm in height.

Compared to the new Mini Cooper 3-door model, this version has a wheelbase that's 72mm longer and an overall body length that's increased by 172mm. These dimensions enhance the comfort and space available for passengers. The back seat area, with noticeably more width, comfortably accommodates three people. The rear seats can be folded down in a 60:40 split, expanding the luggage compartment capacity from 275 liters to a maximum of 925 liters.
The front design of the latest Mini Cooper is characterized by its minimalistic style, maintaining its legacy with the iconic round headlights. These, along with the octagonal front grille, compose the distinctive face of the Mini. Standard LED headlights enhance the car's striking appearance with customizable daytime running light features. Additionally, with three different options, the available light signatures amplify the unique character of each vehicle.

Before even starting the engine, the car engages with the driver through a specially designed welcome and farewell animation. Also noticeable are the redesigned side mirrors, while the presence of loop door handles indicates it's built on the older platform. The new Mini Cooper 3-Door model features folding door handles. This refreshed design continues at the rear with seamlessly integrated tail lights. The vertically aligned LED clusters pay homage to the traditional Mini lights and, similar to the front headlights, offer various adjustable settings.
The vehicle offers four distinct exterior trim options for personal customization. The standard Essential Trim emphasizes a minimalist overall design, accentuating specific elements such as the logo with a Vibrant Silver color. Starting with the Classic Trim, options for a black or white roof, as well as the Multitone Roof with its unique color gradient, become available.
The Favoured Trim features both the front grille frame and certain design elements in a Vibrant Silver color scheme. The sporty character of the Mini Cooper 5-door is highlighted by the JCW Trim. This trim includes design features such as the striking diffusers at the front and rear, as well as the radiator grille surround and the JCW logo in a glossy black finish. The color Chili Red is exclusively available for the design of the contrasting roof for this trim.
The tire diameter has increased compared to the previous model. There are also additional exterior customization options available with aerodynamic rim designs ranging in size from 16 to 18 inches.
Inside the car, Mini has significantly transformed the interior of the five-door model. A circular central instrument and the distinctive toggle switch panel beneath it organize the dashboard. According to Mini, the minimalist interior design requires fewer components. A combined, sleek head-up display behind the steering wheel presents all essential information directly into the driver's line of sight, eliminating the need for an additional instrument panel on the driver's side.

Fabric surfaces extend across the curved dashboard and into the door panels. The ventilation slots are designed to be noticeably thin. Supposedly, their horizontal layout allows for an especially uniform airflow within the cockpit, and their direction can be easily adjusted with a simple movement.
The redesigned cockpit boasts a centrally-located, high-definition OLED screen that has been positioned closer to the driver for easier accessibility. The vehicle's features can be effortlessly controlled using the Mini Operating System 9, which supports both touch and voice commands. Enhanced with a sleek glass edge, the slender touch display has expanded to a diameter of 240 mm.
At the top, the display presents information related to the vehicle. The bottom section of the OLED screen provides direct access to the menu options for Navigation, Media, Phone, and Climate. Pressing the Home button resets the display to its default settings.

The redesigned model will no longer feature manual transmissions. However, just like before, there won't be a purely electric version available. The latest Mini Cooper 5-Door will come with a choice of two petrol engines. Within the new lineup, the power levels are identified by the labels C and S.
The entry-level model is the Cooper C, equipped with a three-cylinder engine that delivers 115 kW (156 hp) and 230 Nm of torque. This enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.0 seconds and achieve a top speed of 225 km/h.
