Genesis GV60 Ignites Performance Line with Magma Edition Debut Slated for 2025
In 2025, the Genesis GV60 will be introduced with its inaugural performance version, the Magma treatment.
The high-end South Korean automaker announced on Thursday that the GV60 Magma concept, which was displayed at the New York Auto Show earlier this year, will indeed be manufactured. The vehicle is set to have its inaugural production unveiling at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed this coming weekend.
The GV60, a contender for Green Car Reports' Best Car To Buy 2023, introduced a more affordable variant that boasts greater range for its 2024 lineup.

Genesis plans to start selling in South Korea by the third quarter of the upcoming year, with the release in Europe scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025. The company has yet to announce a specific date for the car's availability in the U.S., despite having unveiled it globally in New York.
Genesis has affirmed its intention to create a Magma variant for each vehicle in its range, without specifying if this will include electric vehicle (EV) models like the Electrified G80 sedan—which is rumored to soon have an extended wheelbase version—or the Electrified GV70 crossover SUV, currently manufactured in Alabama.
Additionally, Genesis is considering expanding its line to include a greater number of hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles due to a deceleration in the pace of electric vehicle sales.

Magma vehicles are set to receive enhancements to their suspension systems for sportier handling and a decreased ride height, though improvements in performance are yet to be verified. The GV60 Magma prototype does feature enhancements to its cooling mechanisms, which likely suggests an increase in power capacity. It's possible that its performance could rival the incredibly fast Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, considering both cars are built on the same E-GMP platform.
