Fiat feiert 125. Jubiläum mit Grande Panda: Der neue Retro-Kompakte schlägt Brücken ins B-Segment
The Fiat Grande Panda (2024): A Nostalgic Compact with Enhanced Dimensions
Expanding beyond the Panda, offering increased luggage space…
On July 11, 2024, Fiat marked its 125th anniversary. The Italian automaker seized this significant date to unveil the latest Grande Panda to the global audience. This subcompact car impresses with its size, measuring under four meters in length.
The Fiat Grande Panda outdoes the standard Panda by a full 30 centimeters, not to mention it also comes with a more spacious trunk. It will be available in both a fully electric version and with a mild-hybrid system. Despite its practical interior design, it still includes a variety of handy features. Let's take a closer look:

The dimensions of the latest Fiat Grande Panda are comparable to those found in the compact B-segment category. However, its slightly elevated seating gives it a resemblance to the realm of small SUVs and Crossovers. Its design and stature are reminiscent of the Fiat Panda 4×4 Sisley from the late 1980s.
The body of the vehicle appears hefty and squared in shape. The Grande Panda stretches to a length of 3.99 meters, spans 1.75 meters across, and stands 1.57 meters tall. Smart use of space inside allows for ample room for both passengers and luggage. However, Fiat has yet to reveal the precise wheelbase measurement.

The generous spatial design is made possible by the STLA-Small platform within the Smart-Car subcategory, which is also engineered for electric models. The interior is enriched with atmospheric touches, such as the recurrent oval shape that harks back to Fiat's own rooftop test track in Turin, Lingotto.
The "large" Panda is well-equipped with spacious compartments for storage, including a 13-liter storage space on the passenger side of the dashboard.

Another advantage of the new Fiat Grande Panda is its trunk capacity, which boasts an impressive 361 liters. This is a solid figure for the B-segment where this new compact car belongs. With an additional 136 liters over its predecessor, the Panda, the new model significantly surpasses the somewhat meager 225 liters of cargo space offered previously.
Looking closely at the dimensions of 3.99 meters and using the B-segment as a reference, numerous competitors to the new Fiat Grande Panda emerge in the automotive market. One that immediately springs to mind is the new Citroen C3, which shares its platform with the Italian model.
Competitive Rivalry
Other potential substitutes that come to mind include the Suzuki Ignis (which will be discontinued by 2025), the Toyota Aygo X, and Fiat's own smaller sibling, the Fiat Panda. Additionally, the new Hyundai Inster will emerge as a future rival, which we have previously compared to the Grande Panda.
To better understand this comparison and the scale involved, we've listed the new model alongside a few of its tall rivals – including larger ones such as the Dacia Sandero Stepway.
