2025 Porsche Macan EV: Sleeker, Quicker, and More Affordable with Rear-Wheel Drive Innovation

The 2025 model of the electric Porsche Macan debuts with a fresh entry-level variant featuring rear-wheel drive, a change anticipated to enhance the efficiency of the compact crossover's battery performance. Additionally, this update comes with a reduced price tag and the potential for increased driving range.

The entry-level Macan is set to be released in the last quarter of the year, with a price tag of $77,295, which encompasses a $1,995 fee for delivery. This price point is nearly $3,000 cheaper compared to the starting model of 2024, known as the Macan 4.

The entry-level version of the Macan comes equipped with the same high-voltage 800-volt system and a 100-kWh battery pack that is standard across the electric Macan lineup. This model is unique in the series, as it's the first to feature a single motor that drives just the rear wheels. The motor utilizes a 480-amp pulse inverter and incorporates silicon carbide transistors to enhance its efficiency. It can generate up to 335 horsepower and can propel the Macan from a standstill to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, ultimately reaching a maximum speed of 136 mph, as per Porsche's data.

Opting out of a front motor and its accompanying components, this model boasts a weight reduction of 243 pounds when measured against the comparable Macan 4. This weight advantage positions it as the likely leader in driving range among the electric Macan series. Official range figures from the EPA for any of the electric Macan versions are still pending. However, Porsche has hinted that the Macan 4's range is expected to be near the 300-mile mark.

2025 Model of the Porsche Macan 4

For the model year 2025, Porsche is expanding its Macan lineup with the new Macan 4S, positioned between the existing Macan 4 and Macan Turbo variants that were launched with the electric Macan in 2024. Equipped with a twin-motor AWD system, the Macan 4S offers up to 509 horsepower. The starting price is set at $86,895, which covers the cost of delivery.

All variants of the Macan come equipped with a standard air suspension system that includes adaptive dampers, and offer the option of adding rear-wheel steering. Additionally, the Macan 4S can be upgraded with the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus system, which utilizes the brakes for enhanced handling. The cost for these extra options has yet to be disclosed.

The latest model year features more choices for colors and wheels, along with an off-road package that improves the approach angle and raises the ground clearance.

Reservations for the 2025 Macan model are now being accepted. Porsche continues to offer the older, combustion engine Macan even as it introduces the latest electric version. The company has announced that from 2026 onwards, only the electric variant of the Macan will be on sale.
