2025 Hyundai Kona Electric: Sporty N Line Trim, V2L Capability, and a Price Hike
The cost for the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric has increased, however, so have the included features.
The 2025 Kona Electric lineup welcomes an additional model, the N Line. This variant boasts athletic design elements both in its interior and exterior, reflecting the style of its combustion-engine counterpart.
No matter the model, the electric version of the Kona remains superior to its gasoline counterparts in the revamped hatchback category, and it still ranks as one of the most affordable new electric vehicles in the United States.
The starting price for the latest Kona Electric SE has increased by $260, now being priced at a minimum of $34,270. This rise in cost also factors in an increase in destination fees, which have gone up by $60 to $1,395, previously standing at $1,335.
The SE remains the sole variant equipped with a more compact 48.6-kWh battery, delivering 133 horsepower and capable of covering 200 miles according to EPA estimates for the 2024 model year, with the 2025 figures still pending release from the EPA.
The 2025 Kona Electric SEL is priced at $38,270. Despite the price hike, it now comes with a 64.8-kWh battery capable of delivering a 261-mile range, which is also utilized in the N Line and Limited versions. The vehicle offers a power output of 201 horsepower.
The N Line variant, priced at $39,670, positions itself just under the Kona Electric Limited, which has seen a minimal price increase of $65 from the previous year, bringing it to $42,445.
The Kona Electric now boasts enhancements such as ambient lighting, which was previously exclusive to the Limited trim but has now been extended to the newly introduced N Line trim. Additionally, LED interior lighting, which was once a feature reserved for higher trims, is now available for the SEL, N Line, and Limited models.
Vehicle-to-Load capability is now a feature available in every model, including the SE, SEL, N Line, and Limited versions.
For the 2025 model year, the Kona Electric remains largely unchanged. In the previous year, every variant was upgraded with an expanded 12.3-inch touchscreen, enabling wireless integration for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside the addition of an integrated wifi hotspot and the capability for over-the-air (OTA) software updates. The newly introduced Kona lineup from 2024 also features an increase in cabin space, with additional features such as an automated tailgate and a head-up display being available.
The Kona Hybrid, available in various international markets, continues to elude consumers in the United States. Hyundai has concentrated its hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) initiatives on the more sizable Tucson and Santa Fe SUVs, as well as the Elantra and Sonata sedans.
