2025 BMW iX Steers into the Future with 5G Connectivity and Dynamic Handling Upgrades
The 2025 edition of the BMW iX, an electric sports utility vehicle, heads into its fourth year of production with a few minor updates to its features, while its mechanical components remain unchanged.
Every model now comes with a built-in eSim for 5G connection, and there's a new choice to add a Dynamic Handling Package to the iX xDrive50 variant. This package offers active steering and air suspension, which can also be selected individually. Additionally, you can opt for an Interior Design Package for the xDrive50, which brings dark silver accents and a more athletic steering wheel design, a feature that comes as standard on the higher-performing iX M60.

The cost for the xDrive50 model begins at $88,245, while the M60 variant is priced at $112,675. These figures already account for the compulsory $1,175 fee for delivery.
The iX lineup features two models, each equipped with a two-motor AWD system and a battery offering 109 kWh of effective energy storage. The xDrive50 variant delivers 516 horsepower and 564 pound-feet of torque, achieving a 0-60 mph sprint in roughly 4.4 seconds as per BMW's projections. The M60 version sees an increase in power to 610 horsepower and 749 pound-feet of torque, which cuts down the 0-60 mph dash to 3.6 seconds.

The iX's distance capability is expected to remain consistent with prior models, maintaining the ability to exceed 300 miles for certain variants. BMW states that with an 11-kw onboard charger, the battery can be fully charged in about 10.3 hours. For quicker charging, the iX can support up to 195 kw of DC fast-charging, achieving a 10-80% battery level in under 40 minutes. However, BMW iX users will have to be patient until early 2025 when the company plans to integrate the Tesla charging port, which will then allow access to Tesla Supercharger stations.
Green Car Reports has described the iX as uniquely appealing and reliable in terms of its advertised range when driven outside of test conditions. However, BMW's electric vehicles are poised for further advancement with the introduction of the Neue Klasse series. These vehicles will be built on an entirely new platform designed exclusively for electric vehicles and will utilize cylindrical battery cells. The initial model of the Neue Klasse lineup is scheduled to begin manufacturing in Hungary in 2025, with subsequent production set to expand to Germany and Mexico.
