Uncertainty Looms Over Pramac’s Future as Ducati Deal Remains Unsigned Amid Tempting Yamaha Offer
New Uncertainty Surrounds Pramac's Future as Crucial Signature Lacks on Ducati Agreement
Pramac asserts their commitment to remain, while Ducati indicates the contract remains unsigned
Ducati maintains that Pramac has not formally agreed to continue their partnership.
During the Italian MotoGP last week, Gino Borsoi, the team manager for Pramac, appeared to put an end to rumors about their future by affirming their continued partnership with Ducati.
Borsoi stated that they would still have the official Ducatis next year.
Nevertheless, Ducati's sporting director, Mauro Grassilli, disclosed that Pramac has not yet signed a contract.
"We've put in significant effort since the start of the season to secure Pramac for the next two years," stated Grassilli.
"Naturally, we are extremely pleased with Gino's comments."
"We haven't received the written confirmation yet. We are eager to get it as soon as we can."
Pramac is in the last year of their agreement as a Ducati satellite team.
According to reports, they have included a provision that permits them to stay with the manufacturer for the years 2025 and 2026.
It has been reported that Pramac has the option to invoke this clause up until July 31, 2024.
However, Yamaha has made an attractive proposal for them to join, as the company is eager to incorporate a satellite team into their plans for the upcoming year.
Since Grassilli made those remarks, Pramac's objectives have changed considerably.
This season, Jorge Martin is at the forefront of the MotoGP championship standings.
Next year, although they always anticipated Martin's departure, they might have realistically hoped to bring Marc Marquez on board.
Ducati's original strategy was to promote Martin to their main team and have Marquez race a GP25 with Pramac. However, Marquez declined, Martin has now committed to Aprilia, and Marquez is set to join Ducati's factory squad.
Pramac no longer has either of its top riders for the 2025 season.
Despite Fermin Aldeguer stepping up to the premier class and potentially joining the Pramac team, they are anticipated to contend with a significantly less competitive pair of riders next year.
Time is running out for Pramac to choose between remaining with Ducati or switching to Yamaha.
