Aprilia’s Path to Clarity: Test Insights Propel Team Ahead of MotoGP Misano Encore
The examination provided 'insight' for Aprilia before the MotoGP Misano encore.
Aprilia competitors identified areas for enhancement for the subsequent Misano race.
Maverick Vinales mentioned that several aspects became evident to Aprilia after the recent Misano MotoGP test, just before the upcoming Emilia Romagna Grand Prix this weekend.
Aprilia has faced a series of challenging rounds in MotoGP, with the performance of its RS-GP bike declining from its earlier season-winning levels.
Battling for the 10th position with Aleix Espargaro on Aragon's slippery track, the shift to the more adhesive Misano circuit failed to improve Aprilia's performance, as its four riders collectively managed to earn only five points.
The testing session following the San Marino Grand Prix enabled Aprilia to identify multiple problems with its motorcycle, with the most significant issue being the inconsistent engine braking of the RS-GP.
"Vinales expressed optimism about the upcoming race weekend in Misano, viewing it as a significant chance to enhance performance, ahead of the Emilia Romagna GP."
"In the initial race and trial, several aspects were revealed to us, but now it's our responsibility to elevate our standards."
"We need to put forth our best effort in each lap, each race, and every session."
"Our aim is to make progress; we're keen on ending this weekend positively ahead of the upcoming races in Asia."
"My mindset is focused on bettering ourselves, steering clear of errors, and persisting in our efforts."
He mentioned, "Honestly, the experiment has been quite fascinating, attempting to grasp why we excel in some areas while facing difficulties in others."
"It appears we're beginning to realize that the primary problem lies with the braking system.
"Thus, it's crucial for us to adjust the engine braking to achieve greater consistency, because once I began braking effectively, achieving faster lap times became much simpler. This is indeed a very encouraging development."
Aleix Espargaro shared similar feelings to his team-mate, expressing: "Our initial performance in Misano fell short of our expectations.
"Undoubtedly, the weather, particularly the rain, played a role in the duration of the race, yet our speed throughout the weekend did not meet our expectations."
"Throughout the examination, it became clear to us the path we should take, so I'm optimistic about our ability to enhance our approach."
"The circuit presents challenges for us, yet we're prepared to give it our all and compete for significant placements."
