Uncertainty Looms for Pramac Racing as Ducati Deal Remains Unsigned Amid Yamaha Offer
Uncertainty surrounds Pramac's continuation as vital Ducati agreement lacks crucial signature
Pramac announced intentions to remain, however, Ducati indicates the agreement remains unsigned
Ducati maintains that Pramac has not formally finalized an agreement to continue their partnership.
Last week during the Italian MotoGP, Pramac's team leader Gino Borsoi appeared to put an end to rumors regarding their future plans by reaffirming their dedication to Ducati.
"Borsoi confirmed that they will maintain the official Ducatis for the upcoming year."
Nonetheless, Mauro Grassilli, the sporting director for Ducati, later disclosed that Pramac has not yet made a formal commitment through a contract.
"Since the season started, we've put in a considerable amount of effort to secure Pramac for the upcoming two years," Grassilli mentioned.
"Obviously, we are quite pleased with Gino's comments."
"The confirmation has not been received in writing yet. We eagerly anticipate its arrival at the earliest opportunity."
Pramac is entering the last year of their agreement with Ducati as a secondary team.
It's said that they've included a provision that would enable them to continue their partnership with the maker for the years 2025 and 2026.
It has been reported that Pramac has the option to trigger this provision by July 31, 2024.
However, they've received an enticing proposal to become part of Yamaha, a team eagerly looking to incorporate a satellite setup into their project for the upcoming year.
Following Grassilli's remarks, the objectives for Pramac have notably changed.
This season, Jorge Martin is at the forefront of the MotoGP standings.
In the coming year, despite anticipating Martin's departure, they might have genuinely anticipated Marc Marquez's arrival.
Ducati originally intended for Martin to join their main team, while Marquez was slated to pilot a GP25 for Pramac. However, Marquez declined the offer, leading to Martin securing a deal with Aprilia, and Marquez will now be part of Ducati's primary team.
For the 2025 season, Pramac finds itself without any of its leading riders.
Fermin Aldeguer is set to enter the top division and may find himself in the Pramac team. However, there are concerns that this move will result in a significantly less competitive pair of riders for the upcoming season.
Time is running out for Pramac to choose between remaining with Ducati or switching to Yamaha.
