Raul Fernandez Pioneers Aprilia’s Future: Exclusive Insight from the 2025 Parts Test at Misano
The sole Aprilia racer to evaluate 2025 components shares his insights
“We're focusing not only on the remainder of this season but also on the upcoming year, and I've shared extensive input with Aprilia.”
Raul Fernandez, the sole Aprilia rider set to stay with the team into 2025, assumed the role of test rider for the Noale-based manufacturer during the Misano MotoGP one-day testing session held today.
The rider from Spain, along with his fellow Aprilia teammates, has faced disappointing outcomes in the recent races. However, he was excited about the discoveries made during the test.
"Fernandez remarked, "It was a positive day for us. We've come to comprehend a lot, and now it's crucial to assess our current position, particularly in light of our lackluster performance in the recent two races."
It's now important for us to grasp the significance of our efforts today for what lies ahead.
"Our efforts extend beyond the current year, into the next, and I've provided Aprilia with extensive feedback."
"At present, there are two distinct approaches for making a return, and I'm genuinely pleased to have had the opportunity to undergo this trial here and gather some insights."
"I'm extremely happy and grateful to Aprilia for the effort they're investing to enhance the bike. On the whole, it was a highly successful test for us."
Fernandez was experimenting with a diffuser located beneath the seat, along with various other components.
Fernandez was setting his sights on advancements for the years 2024 and 2025, his present colleague at Trackhouse Aprilia, Miguel Oliveira — who is set to join Pramac Yamaha — concentrated on enhancing his skills for the upcoming Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Misano, which is scheduled to take place in just under a fortnight.
"This morning kicked off at a leisurely pace due to the state of the track, yet we managed to make progress, collecting valuable information to better grasp the strategy needed for the next round here," Oliveira commented.
"Not all our experiments yielded fruitful results, yet they did sharpen our understanding of the path ahead. We made some adjustments in the area of engine braking, tweaking the electronics slightly to enhance our consistency. Essentially, that sums it up."
"Obviously, it wasn't entirely satisfactory as our aim was to enhance our performance today and get all the elements to align, but definitely, we are confident of achieving this at the crucial time, which is the upcoming weekend."
