KTM Sets the Record Straight on Marc Marquez Negotiation Rumors, Focuses on Rising Star Pedro Acosta
KTM Unveils Details Regarding Discussions to Sign Marc Marquez
Was there a genuine dialogue between KTM and Marc Marquez?
KTM has refuted claims of engaging in "formal discussions" to recruit Marc Marquez.
Marquez has solidified his career prospects by signing a contract to become part of the Ducati factory team in the upcoming season.
In the process of determining his future steps, KTM was acknowledged for showing keen interest in attracting him to join their team.
Instead, it was declared that Pedro Acosta would move up from their Tech3 GASGAS initiative to their primary team.
"Renegotiating Acosta's contract has recently been at the forefront of our agenda," said Hubert Trunkenpolz, a board member of Pierer Mobility Group, in a discussion with GPOne.
"Prior to 2025, discussions with Marquez had not taken place."
"We've never engaged in a detailed discussion with him, as our focus has consistently been on Acosta."
"We've made all possible efforts to ensure Acosta is with us for the years 2025 and 2026."
"Moving forward, there are several alternatives for his progression."
Acosta has rapidly ascended to the top tier in an impressive debut season thus far.
Acosta has achieved podium finishes in two Sunday races and, following seven rounds, ranks fifth in the MotoGP standings. He stands as the top-ranked rider not on a Ducati.
At only 20 years old, he is set to replace Jack Miller and will join Brad Binder as his teammate on the factory team in the upcoming season.
"Trunkenpolz expressed a desire to provide Acosta with the room and chance to truly excel and reach superstardom within their ranks."
"Had Marquez been in the adjacent garage, this could not have occurred."
"We don't require all this focus.
"Acosta is also aiming to claim the MotoGP championship title while Marquez remains a competitor in the series."
"We will proactively assist him in accomplishing this objective."
Throughout this season, Marquez and Acosta have sometimes found themselves in direct competition on the racetrack, presenting an intriguing battle between the experienced veteran and the emerging young star.
In the upcoming season, the competition intensifies as both racers transition to official motorcycles, bolstered by additional factory backing.
Their emerging competition on the race track might lead to a championship showdown in 2025.
