Hyundai Inster: An Insight into the Compact Car's Cabin
The latest electric vehicle from Korea boasts ample space due to a number of smart design choices.
Hyundai's latest addition, the Inster, is a compact Korean crossover designed for urban driving. It's making its way to Europe after gaining popularity in Korea where it's known as Casper. Despite its modest size, measuring just 3.82 meters, it features a cabin space that rivals that of larger, more premium vehicles.
We anticipate the product will be available on the market by late summer, although the prices have not yet been determined. However, let's take a look inside.
Upon entering the Hyundai Inster, the dashboard immediately captures one's attention, featuring a range of tangible controls for adjusting the climate and accessing the core menus of the entertainment system, in addition to buttons for turning on the seat warmers and the parking camera.
Behind the steering wheel, which is not overly large and features four bright LEDs at its center, is the initial display of the dual-screen infotainment system. Each screen measures 10.25 inches, and the steering wheel spokes are equipped with buttons and dials to navigate through the various screens and driver assistance systems.
Below the main screen, there's a substantial control panel dedicated to the automatic climate control system, which boasts a plethora of features, many of which can be engaged using dedicated buttons.
In essence, the entire concept was developed with "feasibility" in mind, yet it comes with an exceptionally generous set of features including wireless smartphone charging and multiple USB ports.
Regarding the connectivity features of the new Hyundai Inster, it is worth noting that, similar to other models from Hyundai, both the digital dashboard display and the infotainment system screen measure 10.25 inches diagonally, as mentioned before.
Key features include the incorporation of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, though tethered connections are necessary, and there's also an ambient lighting system that extends across the dashboard and pockets, controllable at all times through the central system.
Hyundai Inster: Craftsmanship and Fabrics
During the unveiling of the car, we took the chance to hop inside the Inster to gauge the craftsmanship quality. Although the plastics used are quite rigid – likely a choice to maintain affordability – the overall quality appears quite impressive, with upholstery and materials that are finished to a high standard.
Compact and affordable:
The market is not short on options for colored headliners and innovative attachment systems. These include features that can be attached to the back of the front seats, allowing for the convenience of foldable trays to hold tablets or other items when necessary.

Hyundai Inster: Cabin Space
The interior spaciousness of the Hyundai Inster's latest model boasts the kind of roominess you'd expect from a more premium class vehicle, complete with an overall well-appointed cabin.
When asked if a length of 3.82 meters is enough to comfortably accommodate four adults and some luggage, the answer is affirmative. This is due to a number of smart decisions made by the engineers during the design phase.
Hyundai Inster 2024, the trunk space
Despite its compact size of just 3.82 meters, the vehicle boasts a minimum cargo capacity of 238 liters, which can be expanded to 351 liters by moving the adjustable rear seat forward. If you fold down both backrests, you'll create a flat loading area and the trunk space can surge to a remarkable 1.059 liters.
