Chevy Trims Features to Offer Lower Base Price on 2025 Blazer EV Models
The electric SUV Chevrolet Blazer EV will debut with a reduced starting price for its LT and RS models, which are set to be updated for the 2025 model year, as announced by the company on Monday.
In 2025, the all-wheel-drive version of the Blazer EV LT will be priced at $48,995 and the all-wheel-drive Blazer RS will be available for $54,295, with both prices inclusive of the compulsory destination charges.
Based on the initial cost, the 2025 Chevy Blazer models are priced at $1,200 and $300 less than their 2024 counterparts. However, Chevy has indicated that certain features were removed to achieve these lower prices.
Kellie Van Maele, speaking to Green Car Reports, explained that certain features previously included as standard on the 24MY trim levels are now available as add-ons. This change has led to a lower initial MSRP for these variants. Both the Comfort and Convenience package for the LT AWD and the Convenience and Driver package for the RS AWD, along with a charging cable, have become optional extras.

With the introduction of new features for the 2025 models, there's been a rise in prices. Currently, for the 2024 models, the LT Comfort and Convenience package, which offers amenities such as wireless phone charging, an automatic tailgate, heated front seats with power adjustment, a heated steering wheel, among others, can be opted out of to save $995. This package is usually priced at $2,295. The RS Convenience and Driver Package, which includes advanced features like a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, and a heated area for the windshield wipers, tacks on an extra $2,620 to the price. However, it seems that for the 2025 models, General Motors is not providing the option to remove this package.
However, the reduction in the starting price is a welcome development for those seeking cost-effective electric vehicles. Consumer behavior, both in market trends and recent polls, shows a clear preference for more economically priced electric vehicle options. General Motors, as of March, has slashed the prices of the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV by several thousand dollars. This move comes as the company recommences the sales and distribution of this electric SUV, following a temporary halt in December due to various technical problems, such as charging complications.

The upcoming 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV stands out as a key player in the cost-effective vehicle market this year, with its base price set at $43,295. An even more budget-friendly model is anticipated to hit the market later in the year, with a starting price of $34,995. Additionally, a more affordable front-wheel-drive Blazer EV LT model is expected to be released, offering a less expensive alternative to the LT AWD version.

Chevy has highlighted that the 2025 Blazer models have not entered the manufacturing phase, hinting at potential "performance enhancements" for the upcoming 2025 Blazer EV, details of which are still pending. It remains uncertain if these enhancements will extend beyond the SS versions, which Chevy has confirmed are on the way. The highest-range RS RWD and the most powerful SS AWD versions will be equipped with a larger 102-kWh battery, in contrast to the 85-kWh battery that will be standard in other Blazer EV models. The SS variants will also boast an increase to 557 horsepower, an improved suspension system, and the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under four seconds.
