Morbidelli, who was in third place, fell out of the competition when a sudden rain shower hit the race.
Enea Bastianini, Bagnaia's teammate at the factory, trailed by 0.366 seconds, while newcomer Pedro Acosta led the non-Ducati pack, securing fourth place for GASGAS Tech3 on his first outing with the prototype RC16.
Fabio Quartararo delivered a promising performance for Yamaha, securing fifth place as he tested an updated engine and the latest chassis introduced during the race weekend.
Pramac's leading title contender Jorge Martin, who topped the morning session, ended up in sixth place during the afternoon, narrowly outpacing the GP23s ridden by the previous Sunday's victor Marc Marquez of Gresini and Marco Bezzecchi from VR46, who had qualified on the front row. Marquez seemed not to have any new updates to test.
Maverick Vinales emerged as the top Aprilia rider, finishing ninth, as he tackled engine braking problems encountered over the race weekend.
LCR's Johann Zarco led the RCV pack, securing the 18th spot with a time 1.360 seconds ahead.
Honda racers tested significantly altered aerodynamics and components of the chassis. However, as Joan Mir expressed, he anticipated better outcomes. Repsol teammates Mir and Luca Marini spent the entire day on the track, catching up on lost time due to illness that kept them out of action during the race weekend.
Following a brief hiatus, MotoGP returns to action at the Misano circuit for the 'Emilia Romagna' event, scheduled from September 20th to 22nd. This race has been included in the calendar as a replacement for the previously cancelled rounds in India and Kazakhstan.
