Andrea Iannone Poised for Sensational MotoGP Return Amid WorldSBK Success: A Decision Looms
Andrea Iannone is supported in making a surprising return to MotoGP. "The first step is to determine if I will continue in WorldSBK or not."
Andrea Iannone's WorldSBK team manager asserts that he "merits" a comeback to MotoGP.
The Italian motorcyclist returned to racing this season after a four-year suspension for doping and has now signed with Go Eleven Ducati in the World Superbike Championship.
His remarkable initial showings have sparked intense speculation regarding his future move, which could potentially see him returning to MotoGP.
“He’s an excellent rider,” commented Denis Sacchetti, the manager of the Go Eleven team.
Andrea is an exceptionally skilled rider, and I believe he should continue competing in WorldSBK with an official team. Additionally, he merits the opportunity to race in MotoGP.
"I believe he could also have opportunities in MotoGP."
“Right now, he needs to make a choice about his career path.”
"There is an opportunity to remain with the team. The contract is for one year, with a possibility to extend for an additional year."
He needs to choose if he will take the opportunity or decline it. His decision will be based on his personal preferences.
“If he chooses to remain with our team, we would be thrilled, as I believe we have the potential to achieve excellent outcomes despite being a private team; we benefit from strong backing from Ducati.”
"I believe we have the capability to compete for a podium finish in each race, but I am uncertain."
"His future is not in our hands; it lies with him, Ducati, and possibly other more influential manufacturers!"
Iannone discussed his plans for 2025, stating, "There are constant updates since things change daily."
"It's typical, and not just for me. I want to concentrate on the Championship."
"Following the Misano event, I will begin to make decisions regarding my future. The primary consideration will be whether I continue competing in WorldSBK or not."
This season, Iannone is competing on an Independent Panigale V4 R.
If Alvaro Bautista decides to retire, a spot will become available in the Aruba.it Ducati team next to Nicolo Bulega.
At 34 years old, Iannone has been mentioned as a potential candidate for openings in MotoGP teams next season.
Over the course of seven seasons in the top tier, he primarily rode for Ducati, followed by periods with Suzuki and then Aprilia.
At present, he holds the sixth position in the WSBK rankings after three rounds.
Iannone is set to make his comeback at the Misano circuit for the upcoming WSBK event on June 14, after which he will need to determine his plans for the next season.
