Andrea Dovizioso Teases MotoGP Comeback: Eyes 2025 Return Amid Speculation
Andrea Dovizioso considers coming back to MotoGP: “The door is open”
Andrea Dovizioso acknowledges that making a comeback to MotoGP in 2025 remains a possibility.
Andrea Dovizioso, a former Ducati standout who finished second three times to Marc Marquez in MotoGP, is considering an impressive comeback.
Dovizioso concluded his MotoGP career at the close of 2022, after spending two years racing for Yamaha.
The individual from Italy, who turned his focus to motocross after stepping away from grand prix competitions, is currently 38 years old and considering making a comeback.
Dovizioso has triumphed in 15 MotoGP races and for several years was a strong competitor against Marc Marquez for the global title.
Discussing the likelihood of making a comeback to MotoGP, Dovizioso shared with MotoGP.com during an event at Mugello: "I haven't made any specific arrangements, but it's always a pleasure when a manufacturer reaches out to discuss what's ahead.
"I possessed this upon choosing to retire, yet I wasn't prepared to engage in any activity as my desire was to pause and rest."
"I've always kept the option available because age hasn't caught up with me yet. It's common knowledge that my insights can contribute to bike development. Right now, it's premature to say anything for certain, but I haven't closed off the possibility."
Considering where Dovizioso might stage a comeback, Ducati emerges as a clear initial choice, with Gresini also seen as a viable alternative.
Honda might be a viable option for the Italian rider, given that the Japanese company may part ways with Joan Mir, and Takaaki Nakagami’s continued association is uncertain.
