**Wilco Zeelenberg to Depart Trackhouse Aprilia at End of 2024 Season, Confirms Davide Brivio at Aragon MotoGP**
Davide Brivio has announced that Wilco Zeelenberg will be departing from Trackhouse Aprilia after the conclusion of the 2024 season. This confirmation came during the Aragon MotoGP event.
Last weekend, Davide Brivio, the principal of the Trackhouse Aprilia team, announced that Wilco Zeelenberg will depart from the team after the 2024 season.
Zeelenberg, who started with the Trackhouse team when it first appeared as the Petronas SRT Yamaha team in 2019, is set to depart from the satellite Aprilia project after its second season with the Noale brand, and its first season operating under the Trackhouse name.
In an interview with MotoGP.com pit lane reporter Simon Crafar prior to last Sunday's Aragon MotoGP race at MotorLand, Brivio, who became a member of Trackhouse at the start of 2024, described Zeelenberg’s exit as a "very tough" decision. He mentioned that this move is part of the American-owned team's efforts to explore a "new direction".
Brivio mentioned that Zeelenberg's exit was a topic of conversation. He stated, "We made this choice together, and Wilco deserves significant recognition for his contributions."
“To be frank, when I came here, I discovered a team that he had developed over the years. Most of this team will remain the same next year, so he deserves a lot of recognition for what he has established.”
"As Trackhouse, we believed that moving forward, we needed to explore a new path. On one hand, it's disappointing, but on the other hand, it's simply a business decision."
"It's never easy, and reaching this decision has been extremely challenging."
Zeelenberg’s upcoming plans are not yet known. The Dutch ex-250cc Grand Prix champion served as team manager for Jorge Lorenzo and later Maverick Vinales in the factory Yamaha MotoGP team. He moved to the Petronas SRT team as a team manager in 2019.
