Revving Up for 2025: Confirmed and Rumoured MotoGP Rider Line-Ups and Contract Insights
2025 MotoGP rider roster: Confirmed and speculated riders for the 2025 season
Below is the contract status of each MotoGP rider as we approach the 2025 season
Here is the roster of MotoGP riders set for the 2025 season, detailing the contract status of each competitor, following the official announcement of Marc Marquez's agreement with the factory Ducati team…
Ducati acted quickly to secure star rider Francesco Bagnaia with a lengthy contract, but the main focus of the early rider market was the uncertainty surrounding his teammate for 2025.
Marc Marquez ultimately secured the position following what seemed to be a change of heart from Ducati, who initially seemed to favor championship leader Jorge Martin.
In 2025, Ducati is set to bring Moto2's young star, Fermin Aldeguer, into the top-tier racing class. The team he will join hasn't been decided yet. However, Aldeguer is confident that he will receive a bike with the most current specifications.
The fate of Ducati's partner teams is still up in the air. Both VR46 and Pramac have contracts that expire at the end of 2024, leaving them to choose between continuing their relationship with Ducati or switching over to Yamaha.
KTM had secured Brad Binder with a contract extending until 2026, and rising star Pedro Acosta will transition from Tech3 GASGAS to the main factory team.
Enea Bastianini, who is no longer part of the main Ducati team with Bagnaia, is anticipated to join Tech3. Meanwhile, current KTM riders Jack Miller and Augusto Fernandez are competing for the last available GASGAS-labeled RC16.
Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro is set to retire after the 2024 season.
Jorge Martin is set to take over his close friend Espargaro's bike after losing the opportunity at Ducati.
The contracts for Aprilia's additional riders, which include Maverick Vinales and the Trackhouse team members Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez, will also expire after the 2024 season.
This implies that Aprilia has the ability to make significant choices if they desire.
The rebranding of the US-supported Trackhouse might lead to the inclusion of an American racer, like Moto2 competitor Joe Roberts.
Yamaha secured a crucial part of the 2025 rider lineup by signing a new contract with Fabio Quartararo, who is speculated to become the highest-paid rider in MotoGP.
Yamaha aims to introduce a satellite team next year, effectively increasing their number of bikes on the track. While VR46 appeared to be the clear option, they have expressed a preference for retaining their Desmosedici machines, which has unexpectedly put Pramac in the running.
Honda
Luca Marini has inked a two-year deal to take over Marc Marquez's spot at Repsol Honda, while Johann Zarco has committed to staying with LCR through the conclusion of 2025.
The contracts for Honda's other two racers, Joan Mir from Repsol and Takaaki Nakagami from LCR, have expired.
HRC is aware that their current motorcycle isn't very appealing, but as a leading force in MotoGP, they still have the potential to secure a high-profile rider.
Aleix Espargaro is speculated to become a test and wild-card rider for HRC in 2025.
