Raul Fernandez Eyes Assen Return After Successful Arm Pump Surgery
Raul Fernandez on the Mend Following Arm Pump Surgery
Raul Fernandez optimistic about his readiness to rejoin MotoGP at Assen.
Raul Fernandez disclosed on Sunday night at Mugello that he had arm pump surgery in Barcelona on Tuesday.
Trackhouse's cyclist had been experiencing issues with his right forearm "all season long," leading to a fasciotomy performed by Dr. Xavier Mir, which involves cutting the fascia to alleviate muscle pressure.
Fernandez shared a new update on social media:
"I made a brief visit to the medical center to address the arm pump issue I've been dealing with since the beginning of the season. Big thanks to Doctor Mir for his work. Now it's time to concentrate on recovery to be fully ready for Assen. See you in a few weeks. 🔥🚀"
A message from Trackhouse indicated: ‘If the recovery proceeds as anticipated, the team believes he will be ready to compete at the Dutch TT in Assen, beginning on Friday, June 28. Meanwhile, the entire Trackhouse team sends their best wishes for Raul's swift recovery!’
The Dutch TT event in Assen is scheduled for June 28-30.
Fernandez, who is the sole competitor remaining on the 2023-model RS-GP, took the lead in a MotoGP race for the first time during the recent Sprint event in Barcelona but unfortunately crashed.
He subsequently secured sixth position in the grand prix and is presently leading his teammate Miguel Oliveira, who is riding the 2024 model bike.
After the MotoGP summer break, Fernandez is scheduled to receive the 2024 components, although he will continue using his current engine specification.
