Rain Dampens Spirits but Not Determination at 2024 Mugello MotoGP Official Test
2024 Mugello Official MotoGP Testing – Outcomes
Concluding lap records from Monday's authorized MotoGP test following the race in Mugello, Italy.
After the Italian MotoGP on Sunday, competitors and their teams came back to the Mugello track for the year's second official mid-season trial in 2024.
Regrettably, following a weekend of dry and sunny racing conditions, rain during the night resulted in a wet track by morning.
Subsequently, just when the circuit was nearly completely dried out, precipitation made a comeback and persisted for the duration of the day.
Consequently, by the time testing concluded at 6pm, no one had surpassed Brad Binder's initial lap time set before the rainfall.
Luca Marini of Repsol Honda completed the highest number of laps, totaling 39, and was the final rider to conclude the testing session. He mentioned that the RC213V's problems with rear grip become more pronounced under wet conditions, but he still found the time on the track to be valuable.
The eighth race of the MotoGP series, known as the Dutch TT, is scheduled to occur in Assen at the month's conclusion.
Nonetheless, Yamaha, along with Honda who also benefits from concessions and aimed to test engine changes today, intends to organize a private testing session during the three-week period opened up by the delay of the Kazakhstan event.
