Rain Dampens 2024 Mugello MotoGP Test, Binder’s Early Lap Time Stands Unchallenged
Results from the 2024 Official Mugello MotoGP Test
Final lap times recorded on Monday at the official post-race MotoGP test held in Mugello, Italy.
After the Italian MotoGP on Sunday, the teams and riders headed back to the Mugello track for the second official in-season test session of 2024.
Regrettably, the track was wet in the morning due to rain that fell overnight, following a weekend of dry and sunny racing conditions.
At that moment, when the track was nearly dry, rain came back and persisted for the rest of the day.
Due to the rain, Brad Binder's lap time set earlier in the day remained the fastest, with no one surpassing it by the conclusion of testing at 6pm.
Luca Marini of Repsol Honda completed the highest number of laps, totaling 39, and was the final rider to conclude the testing session. The Italian rider mentioned that the RC213V's rear grip problems are amplified in wet conditions, making the time spent on the track valuable.
The eighth round of the MotoGP season, known as the Dutch TT at Assen, is scheduled for the end of this month.
Yamaha, along with Honda, which also wanted to experiment with engine changes today, are intending to conduct a private test during the three-week interval caused by the Kazakhstan delay.
