Pecco Bagnaia Battles Pain and Setback After Aragon MotoGP Crash with Alex Marquez
Francesco "Pecco" Bagnaia is experiencing significant discomfort following a collision with Alex Marquez during the Aragon MotoGP, reporting pain in his neck and shoulder.
Francesco Bagnaia has described the injuries he sustained following his collision with Alex Marquez during the Aragon MotoGP last weekend.
The two riders collided when Marquez veered off course at turn 12 on the 18th lap of the Grand Prix. Bagnaia, who initially started in third position but fell to seventh due to a slow start, was working his way back up the ranks and seemed poised to claim the third spot on the podium from Marquez.
An Italian racer attempted to capitalize on Marquez's mistake at turn 12 by making a move roughly a hundred meters later at turn 13, but their collision ultimately resulted in both riders being forced out of the race.
Bagnaia experienced a difficult tumble under Marquez's bike and subsequently headed to the medical center.
In an interview with MotoGP.com following the Aragon race, Bagnaia mentioned experiencing "pain in my neck" but noted that "it could be much worse, so it’s okay."

In an Instagram story where he detailed the crash, Bagnaia mentioned that his left shoulder was hurting.
In his statement, Bagnaia explained that he seized the opportunity to overtake Alex Marquez when Marquez went wide. He also mentioned taking a wider line into the following corner, aware that another rider was nearby. Unfortunately, he noted, the situation ended poorly, capping off what had already been a challenging weekend.
"Despite a difficult beginning caused by the challenging conditions at that position on the grid, I was making a strong recovery and was significantly faster. At the moment, I'm in quite a bit of pain, particularly in my left shoulder, but it seems like nothing is broken."
"We'll strive to be in top shape for Misano."
As the San Marino Grand Prix approaches this weekend, Bagnaia faces a mere four-day window to regain his physical condition before the practice sessions for his home race commence. This predicament mirrors the one he experienced last year when he suffered a crash at the Catalan Grand Prix and came to Misano nursing leg injuries.
Last year, despite dealing with injuries, Bagnaia secured third place in both the Sprint and the Grand Prix. However, the impact of his recent crash in Aragon on his performance in Misano won't be evident until practice sessions begin on Friday morning.
