Yamaha announces new managing director to succeed Lin Jarvis
Paolo Pavesio set to take the role in 2025
Paolo Pavesio has been appointed to take over Lin Jarvis' position at Yamaha.
Starting January 1, 2025, Pavesio will take on the role of managing director at Yamaha Motor Racing.
He formerly held the position of Director of Marketing and Motorsport at Yamaha Motor Europe. During his tenure, he reorganized the motorsport division, leading to their later success in winning world championships in World Superbikes, EWC, and MXGP.
Pavesio will take over from Jarvis, who has served as Yamaha's leader for 26 years.
Jarvis guided Yamaha to achieve eight rider championships, six constructor championships, and seven team championships. He managed the company's peak periods with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, and also their latest championship win with Fabio Quartararo.
Even though Jarvis is stepping down from his role as managing director, he will continue to serve as a Senior Advisor for Yamaha.
Takahiro Sumi, who serves as the General Manager of the Motor Sports Development Division, expressed gratitude to Lin for his commitment and accomplishments over the last 26 years, both on a personal level and on behalf of Yamaha.
"His dedication, hard work, and leadership have played a crucial role in Yamaha's achievements in MotoGP, and I am pleased that we will continue to benefit from his expertise and experience in the future."
Paolo Pavesio will take over from Lin as Managing Director. Pavesio's extensive experience includes his tenure as Marketing and Motorsport Director at YME, where he led Yamaha teams to win World Championship titles in WorldSBK, EWC, and MXGP.
"I am excited about Paolo joining YMR in January, and I believe that with his guidance, Yamaha will achieve the future success in MotoGP that we are all aiming for."
