Aragon MotoGP, Grand Prix: Marc Marquez leads from start to finish, overshadowing Pecco Bagnaia's collision with Alex Marquez
In a compelling performance, Marc Marquez led from the beginning to the end at the Aragon MotoGP Grand Prix, overshadowing the race with Pecco Bagnaia's unfortunate crash involving Alex Marquez.
At the Aragon Grand Prix in the MotoGP series, Marc Marquez achieved his first Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, securing the victory with a commanding lead.
Dominating from start to finish, Marquez showcased remarkable speed and ultimately crossed the finish line nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin increased his lead in the championship standings to 23 points by securing second place, following Francesco Bagnaia's crash, which occurred during a collision with Alex Marquez, who also went down in the incident.
Bagnaia was making rapid progress through the pack, overcoming an initial setback caused by spinning his rear tyre from a less clean part of the starting grid. He initially found himself in seventh place at the beginning, moved up to sixth following Miguel Oliveira's fall, advanced to fifth as Franco Morbidelli went off track, and then climbed to fourth after pressuring Pedro Acosta into an error at turn 16.
Several rounds were completed before they managed to close in on Marques, who veered off course at the 12th turn, giving Bagnaia the opportunity to overtake him entering the 13th turn. However, as Bagnaia was making his way into turn 13, he collided with Marquez, resulting in both riders crashing.
Following the race, Bagnaia was taken to the medical facility, however, there has been no further information released regarding his status.
The encounter between the two racers elevated Pedro Acosta to third position, though he was nearly 15 seconds adrift of the leader.
Brad Binder secured the fourth spot, while Enea Bastianini climbed to fifth position from a 14th place start. Franco Morbidelli finished in sixth place, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller, who completed the top 10.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a crash, and Maverick Vinales decided to retire from the race as well.
Investigations were initiated after the race involving Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez due to issues with the pressure in their front tyres.
