Marquez Triumphs at MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix Amid Drama as Bagnaia Crashes Out
Marc Marquez showcased a commanding performance from start to finish at the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, while Pecco Bagnaia's race ended prematurely due to a collision with Alex Marquez.
At the Aragon Grand Prix of MotoGP, Marc Marquez celebrated his initial Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, achieving victory with remarkable dominance.
Dominating from the start to finish, Marquez showcased remarkable speed and ultimately triumphed, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin widened his lead in the championship to 23 points by finishing second, following Francesco Bagnaia's exit from the race due to a collision with Alex Marquez, who also went down in the incident.
Bagnaia was making impressive progress up the ranks, having initially struggled with his rear tyre spinning from the less clean part of the starting grid. He found himself in seventh position at the outset, climbed to sixth following Miguel Oliveira's fall, advanced to fifth as Franco Morbidelli went off track, and then secured fourth place by pressuring Pedro Acosta into an error at turn 16.
During the race, several attempts were made to overtake Marquez after he veered off course at the twelfth turn, opening up an opportunity for Bagnaia to pass him going into the thirteenth turn. However, as Bagnaia was making his move at turn 13, he collided with Marquez, causing both riders to crash.
Following the race, Bagnaia was taken to the medical center, though there has been no released information regarding his status.
The collision between the pair elevated Pedro Acosta to the third spot, though he was nearly 15 seconds adrift of the leader.
Brad Binder secured the fourth position, while Enea Bastianini climbed to fifth despite beginning from the 14th spot. Franco Morbidelli finished in sixth place, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller, who completed the top 10.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a crash, and Maverick Vinales decided to withdraw from the race as well.
Following the race, probes were initiated into Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez concerning the pressure of their front tyres.
