Jack Miller Weighs In on Potential Move to Tech3 Amid Pedro Acosta’s Promotion to Factory KTM Team
Jack Miller's thoughts on a potential switch to Tech3 – and Pedro Acosta taking his place
Jack Miller stated, "I didn't join this team with plans to depart after just two years."
Jack Miller acknowledges that it “made sense” to elevate standout newcomer Pedro Acosta to the Red Bull KTM team for the 2025 season.
With Brad Binder secured on the roster until 2026, Acosta is set to transfer from GASGAS Tech3 to fill Miller’s spot in the 'orange' team garage.
However, the Australian emphasized that he "didn't join this project just to depart after two years," and he would "definitely" think about remaining with an RC16 by moving to the Tech3 team.
Miller commented on Acosta’s performance, praising him for his outstanding job throughout the year. He described Acosta as an exceptional rookie and a rare talent that only comes around once in a generation. Miller added that promoting him to the factory team was a sensible decision.
"I'm not overly worried; we'll find a place somewhere. I'd just prefer to achieve better outcomes to make things a bit easier for myself."
He clarified, "Of course, I didn't join this project with the plan to leave after two years. That's not what I aim to do."
“We've achieved significant progress on this project, and I believe we can keep developing this bike to a point where it can rival the red Ducati.”
Would Miller be satisfied to keep doing that job at Tech3?
"Absolutely," stated Miller. "I'm convinced that Tech3 has evolved beyond being just a satellite team. It's essentially a factory KTM bike, just in a different color. And we're aware of that."
"As I mentioned earlier, I didn't take on this job just to leave after two years without enjoying the rewards."
"Working on these projects requires patience, which is why there are fluctuations in progress as you strive to create something valuable. This is a natural part of the process."
"My attention has always been on that. My knowledge of the bike and my efforts to enhance it have remained constant, and my dedication off the track has never diminished. I'm putting in more effort now than ever before."
"I have great admiration for the team at KTM; they've achieved remarkable success in a brief period. We'll just have to wait and observe what happens next."
Miller, who has won one race with Marc VDS Honda and three with Ducati, achieved his first and only podium finish with KTM MotoGP at the Spanish Grand Prix last year.
An Australian racer has achieved a top finish of fifth place this season, yet currently stands 16th in the world championship standings due to crashes in three of the last four Sunday races.
Enea Bastianini, who replaced Miller in the Ducati factory team in 2023, is now anticipated to join Tech3. This leaves only the RC16, currently held by Augusto Fernandez, as the remaining available seat.
Fernandez is currently ranked 17th in the world championship standings, following a challenging beginning to his sophomore season in the top-tier category.
