Francesco Bagnaia Battles Neck and Shoulder Injuries After Aragon MotoGP Crash with Alex Marquez, Eyes Recovery for Home Race at Misano
Pecco Bagnaia "in significant pain" following Alex Marquez collision at Aragon MotoGP
Francesco Bagnaia reported experiencing pain in his neck and shoulder after his incident with Alex Marquez during the Aragon MotoGP.
Francesco Bagnaia has provided an account of the injuries he sustained following his collision with Alex Marquez during the Aragon MotoGP last weekend.
The two riders collided when Marquez went off track at turn 12 during the 18th lap of the Grand Prix. Bagnaia, who had started in third position but fell to seventh due to a bad start, was working his way up through the field and appeared poised to claim the last spot on the podium from Marquez.
The Italian rider attempted to capitalize on Marquez's mistake at turn 12, making a move roughly a hundred meters later at turn 13. However, their collision resulted in both racers being forced out of the competition.
Bagnaia experienced a difficult tumble under Marquez's motorcycle and subsequently visited the medical center.
In an interview with MotoGP.com following the Aragon race, Bagnaia mentioned experiencing "neck pain," but noted that "it isn't too severe, so it's manageable."

In an Instagram story update detailing the accident, Bagnaia mentioned that he was experiencing discomfort in his left shoulder.
In his statement, Bagnaia explained that he capitalized on Alex Marquez taking a wide turn to overtake him. He then approached the following corner with a wider trajectory, aware of the presence of another rider. He expressed regret that the situation turned out as it did, noting that the weekend had already been challenging.
"Despite facing another challenging beginning because of the difficult conditions at that grid position, I managed to stage a strong recovery and was significantly faster. At the moment, I'm experiencing considerable pain, particularly in my left shoulder, but fortunately, it seems nothing is broken."
"We're committed to reaching peak fitness for Misano."
As the San Marino Grand Prix approaches this weekend, Bagnaia has just four days to regain his physical condition before the practice sessions for his home race commence. This scenario is quite similar to last year when he crashed during the Catalan Grand Prix and came to Misano with leg injuries.
Last year, Bagnaia secured third place in both the Sprint and Grand Prix events, even though he was injured. However, the impact of his crash in Aragon on his performance in Misano will only become evident once practice starts on Friday morning.
