Fabio di Giannantonio Praises VR46 Academy, Prepares for Factory Ducati Upgrade, and Analyzes Márquez’s ‘On the Limit’ Riding Style
Di Giannantonio discusses the VR46 Academy, factory improvements, and Márquez's aggressive style
Fabio Di Giannantonio commends Rossi's VR46 Academy, talks about his MotoGP Ducati upgrade for 2025, and shares his thoughts on why Marc Márquez consistently pushes boundaries.
Fabio di Giannantonio has acknowledged the significant influence that Valentino Rossi’s VR46 Academy has had on him since he began racing with the VR46 Racing Ducati team, founded by the nine-time Grand Prix World Champion, at the beginning of the 2024 MotoGP season.
The Italian rider is now participating in his first season with VR46 Racing after spending two years with Gresini Racing, during which he secured his first top-tier win in Qatar last year.
Even though securing his 2024 position with VR46 Ducati required a last-minute phone call, di Giannantonio has already guaranteed his future by signing a contract extension with the Tavullia team for 2025.
In addition, di Giannantonio is set to team up with factory riders Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez next season, as he will be receiving the newest Ducati GP25 model. This move signals strong support from the Borgo Panigale company.
The improvement marks a significant change for the 25-year-old, who claims he has greatly gained from joining the prestigious list of members at the VR46 Academy.
He expressed his admiration for them, noting their remarkable success with the team. He found it extraordinary how they provided young riders with opportunities to compete, supported by the academy, he mentioned to TNT Sports.
"They are amazing, and I have nothing negative to say about them. They recognized my potential and talent, which led them to support me and provide me with the opportunity to race this year. They've transformed my life, as I will be a factory Ducati rider next year. The atmosphere and energy within the team are incredible."
Ducati is on track to secure a third straight MotoGP World Championship with its newest GP24 model, while Marc Marquez and di Giannantonio have also achieved impressive performances using the previous year's GP23 model.
Among the two, only Marquez has managed to reach the podium this season. Di Giannantonio has expressed his admiration for Marquez's daring and boundary-pushing riding style, which has earned him six MotoGP World Championships.
"We have the chance to exchange information, allowing for significant learning," he added.
"Marc is performing exceptionally well this year. In several rounds, we're quite close in terms of performance. While he shows superior skills during practice and qualifying sessions, I'm not trailing by much. His ability to navigate left-hand corners is outstanding, allowing him to get the most out of the bike."
"The Ducati GP23 is a competitive bike, but it demands riding at the edge – Marc is able to consistently do this, constantly pushing the limits."
"While I can perform well when I feel secure on the bike, Marc has the ability to consistently push the boundaries in nearly any scenario."
