Pedro Acosta’s Stellar Performance Paves Way for Tech3’s Star-Studded 2025 Line-Up with Bastianini and Vinales
Pedro Acosta played a pivotal role in Tech3 securing a star-studded 2025 roster, according to the team. The signings of Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales were significantly influenced by Acosta's involvement, Tech3 acknowledges.
Herve Poncharal has acknowledged Pedro Acosta's role in persuading Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini to sign with the Tech3 KTM MotoGP team for the 2025 season.
In a reorganization of KTM's lineup for 2025, the exceptionally talented newcomer Acosta is set to join Brad Binder in the factory team.
Tech3 will stop operating RC16 motorcycles under the GASGAS name and will transform into an official KTM team, with renowned grand prix victors Bastianini and Vinales teaming up with Poncharal's group.
During a recent appearance on the MotoGP podcast, Poncharal mentioned that their team's updated roster was significantly influenced by Acosta, who has achieved seven podium finishes in 2024, demonstrating the capabilities of the RC16.
"Definitely, the credit for securing next year's team, featuring Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales, goes to Pedro," he mentioned.
"Due to my conviction that if Pedro hadn't demonstrated his capabilities, if he hadn't competed against Maverick and Enea in several races… when I conversed with them [inquiring] 'what made you consider engaging with us' and possibly agreeing to collaborate with us, they shared with me that one of the factors was their experience racing alongside Pedro [on the circuit] and witnessing his performance with that motorcycle, leading them to think 'wow, I want to ride that bike.
"Clearly, Pedro demonstrated the capabilities of the RC16, a performance that was both noticed and valued by Enea and Maverick."
"It's evident that he was a huge support to us. My feelings? I'm feeling incredibly privileged and honored, given that Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales are not only major figures but also competitors for the title."
"They aim to secure a MotoGP championship victory, which is why they are participating, given that none have achieved this goal yet."
Officials have provided assurances, making it clear that the four KTM riders will be treated equally in terms of status, sporting identical liveries, and receiving the same technical equipment with simultaneous updates.
"If the development is exclusive to a pair due to their unpreparedness for the competition, it will be the highest-ranking cyclist in the standings who receives it."
"This year, we've already received support, yet having this amazing quartet of riders and the opportunity to compete against the factory team in every race presents a significant challenge."
Poncharal notes, "However, this also places a burden on us, as Enea arrives from what's considered the most superior technical setup in the racing field."
"Maverick is benefiting from a highly impressive technical setup."
"Both of them have won grand prix races and are aiming for the championship. However, our goal is to ensure they are comfortable with the motorcycle and feel like part of our team."
