Fabio Di Giannantonio Praises VR46 Academy, Eyes Ducati Upgrade, and Admires Marquez’s Limit-Defying Style
Fabio Di Giannantonio heaps compliments on Rossi's VR46 Academy, touches on his anticipated 2025 MotoGP Ducati enhancement, and delves into why Marc Márquez is pushing boundaries.
Fabio di Giannantonio has acknowledged the significant influence that Valentino Rossi's VR46 Academy has had on his career after becoming a part of Rossi's VR46 Racing Ducati team at the onset of the 2024 MotoGP campaign.
The Italian racer is presently undergoing his inaugural season racing under the VR46 Racing banner, after two years with Gresini Racing. His time there reached a high point with his first win in the top tier at Qatar the previous year.
Even more impressively, despite needing a last-minute decision to confirm his spot for the 2024 season with VR46 Ducati, di Giannantonio has solidified his position by signing an extension with the Tavullia team for the 2025 season.
Additionally, di Giannantonio is set to team up with fellow factory riders Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez by receiving access to the newest Ducati GP25 model next season, indicating a strong endorsement from the Borgo Panigale company.
Certainly, the improvement marks a significant change for the 25-year-old, who claims he has greatly gained from joining the esteemed ranks of the VR46 Academy's members.
"I've always greatly admired them; their success in supporting the guys has been remarkable. Providing young athletes with the opportunity to compete through the academy's assistance is truly astonishing," he shared with TNT Sports.
“They’re incredible, I have nothing negative to say about them. They recognized my potential and talent, hence they supported me and provided me with the opportunity to ride this year. My life has been transformed, as I am now set to be a factory Ducati rider for the coming year. The atmosphere and vibe within the team are amazing.”
Ducati is on track to secure its third straight MotoGP World Championship title using its new GP24 model, while both Marc Marquez and di Giannantonio have consistently delivered impressive performances with the previous year's GP23 model.
Among them, only Marquez has achieved a podium finish this year. Di Giannantonio has expressed admiration for Marquez's daring approach to racing, which often involves pushing the boundaries to the limit.
"He went on to say, 'This gives us the chance to exchange information, allowing for significant learning opportunities.'"
"Marc has been performing excellently this season; we've been closely matched in numerous instances. While he has the upper hand in practice and qualifying sessions, I'm not trailing by much. His exceptional skill in navigating left-hand turns allows him to fully utilize the motorcycle's capabilities."
"The Ducati GP23 is a motorcycle designed for competition, pushing it to its boundaries is essential – Marc consistently manages to do this, embracing the dangers involved."
"When I'm comfortable on the bike, I can manage, but Marc has the ability to push boundaries in nearly every scenario."
