Grand Prix Commission Greenlights 340mm Front Brake Discs for All MotoGP Circuits
Largest front brake discs permitted across all MotoGP tracks
The Grand Prix Commission has declared that the maximum 340mm front brake discs will be permitted at every track on the MotoGP schedule.
Before, the enhanced braking systems were exclusively accessible at three particular locations.
The decision is likely to be embraced by racers like Valentino Rossi and Cal Crutchlow, who have encountered difficulties with braking problems.
"In a statement by the FIM, it was announced that the Commission has unanimously agreed to alter the rule regarding the size of front carbon disc brakes in the MotoGP class to enhance safety."
Presently, the rules allow for two different front carbon disc sizes; 320 mm discs are required at all tracks with the exception of Motegi, where 340 mm discs are compulsory, and at Montmelo and Sepang, where the choice to use 340 mm discs is optional.
"After suggestions from the Safety Commission and backed by the brake makers, it's been agreed that employing 340 mm disc brakes will be a choice at all tracks, excluding Motegi where their usage is still compulsory."
The upcoming MotoGP race is scheduled to take place at Mugello towards the end of this month.
