Marc Marquez’s Secret to Success in 2024: The Power of Team Spirit at Gresini Racing
Gresini Racing Team Pinpoints Marc Marquez's Key to Success
What has been Marc Marquez's major advantage in 2024?
Gresini's sports director, Michele Masini, is of the opinion that the key to success for Marc Marquez in the 2024 season thus far is the positive environment within the team's garage.
Eight-time world champion Marquez made a daring move by leaving Honda one year ahead of schedule to become part of the Gresini team, riding a GP23 for the current season.
Immediately, the strategy seemed to be a success, with Marquez consistently vying for a top-three finish through the season's initial stages, eventually securing consecutive wins at the Aragon and San Marino Grands Prix.
Following his triumph at Misano the previous weekend, Marquez has closed the gap to just 53 points behind the current frontrunner in the championship, Jorge Martin, marking a significant surge in his quest for the title.
Masini is cautious not to jump to conclusions, but he has shared insights on a crucial factor that is providing Marquez with a leg up on his competition.
"I'd rather not consider it at the moment," he shared with Marca.
"The calculations will follow, but it's also accurate to say that this favorable condition is assisting us in the overall rankings.
"After the second race at the Marco Simoncelli track during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, we'll have a clearer understanding of our position."
"In Asia, we will come across a unique type of asphalt and various circumstances. We might approach it in another manner, yet we must proceed as we are.
"I truly believe that the key to success lies in the team's camaraderie."
Marquez attributed his win at Misano to the memory of the late Fausto Gresini and his team, expressing that it was an ideal manner to thank them for their belief in the Spaniard.
Masini, a veteran in the Gresini setup, believes Marquez's victory at Misano, which is a home race for the team and was achieved after climbing up from ninth position, is equivalent to earning 50 points instead of the standard 25.
"After 18 years of being part of what feels like a family, today is a remarkable day," Masini expressed following the San Marino GP.
The triumph came as a surprise, as we were definitely anticipating a resurgence typical of Marc. However, given the state of the track, only a true champion of his caliber could have navigated it so masterfully. Hence, his performance was extraordinary.
"Adding to the excitement was the fact that we were competing on our home turf and riding with Fausto's classic bike design, which was an indescribably valuable experience."
"It's as though he's up by 50 points instead of just 25. We're in a golden period, and he's really taking pleasure in handling the Desmosedici."
"He's incredibly quick and the mood inside the box is amazing. We need to keep up this momentum."
