Following reports that Martin was poised to secure the position as Francesco Bagnaia's partner at Ducati for the upcoming season, the Italian manufacturer reconsidered and appears ready to reveal Marc Marquez as the chosen one.
Ducati had been optimistic about Marquez coming aboard to ride the GP25 for the Pramac team, but the eight-time world champion threw Ducati for a loop by outright dismissing the possibility of moving to Pramac.
Consequently, Ducati took a significant decision to alter their strategy and choose Marquez instead of Martin.
The only thing left to do is finalize a contract between both parties, and Ducati Corse's General Manager Gigi Dall’Igna has stated they're making efforts to wrap this up quickly.
"Dall'Igna mentioned, "Finalizing all the agreements poses a challenge. We're actively working on it."
"Certainly, we plan to make a statement regarding this at the earliest opportunity, although I'm unable to specify a timeline for it."
Dall'Igna made his comments prior to the announcement of Martin's move to Aprilia being made public.
The genius responsible for Ducati's impressive MotoGP motorcycles provided an update on Enea Bastianini, indicating he's likely no longer in contention for a spot on Ducati's factory team.
In response to whether Bastianini's outstanding display at Mugello made any difference, Dall'Igna stated: "To be frank, I don't believe it does. We'll wait and see the outcome, but my opinion remains unchanged."
