Ducati’s Dramatic U-Turn: Marc Marquez to Replace Jorge Martin for 2025 MotoGP Season
Ducati experiences a last-minute change of heart and opts for Marc Marquez over Jorge Martin
A surprising development may be happening at Ducati, as reports suggest that Marc Marquez could be handed the 2025 official bike in a significant change of plans.
It seemed that Jorge Martin was set to join Francesco Bagnaia as a teammate for the 2025 MotoGP season.
Just before the Italian MotoGP last weekend, reports from the Italian media suggested that Martin was expected to win the race, with Marc Marquez finishing behind him, positioning him as Bagnaia’s future team-mate.
Autosport is currently stating that there is a possibility Marquez might surpass Martin.
It has been officially announced that Martin will be joining Aprilia in 2025.
Between the Barcelona and Mugello races, Ducati is said to have notified Martin that he was their top choice.
A high-ranking official from the factory greeted Martin with a handshake and expressed gratitude for his patience just before the Italian MotoGP last weekend.
Ducati was "certain" that Marquez would agree to join Pramac, receiving the same equipment and backing as the main team riders.
However, Marquez surprised Ducati when he stated openly that Pramac was not a possibility.
The report further mentioned that Ducati became alarmed when they heard Marquez state he wouldn't sign with Pramac.
Reports suggest that Ducati may have reconsidered their decision and are now likely to reveal Marquez as Bagnaia's teammate for the 2025 season.
As a consequence, Enea Bastianini is set to depart from Ducati.
