Dovizioso Marvels at Marquez’s Swift Adaptation to Ducati: A Glimpse into the Thrilling 2024 MotoGP Title Race
Andrea Dovizioso: "Marc's quick adjustment to Ducati truly stands out"
Andrea Dovizioso: "Marc [Marquez] possesses significant skill, and his rapid acclimation to Ducati is indeed remarkable."
Andrea Dovizioso is of the opinion that the battle for the MotoGP championship in 2024 will be closely contested until the end by three competitors.
Jorge Martin has been at the forefront for almost the entire season to date, holding an 18-point advantage over Francesco Bagnaia, with Marc Marquez closely trailing despite competing on the GP23 motorcycle.
Marquez has not secured a victory in any race this season, in contrast to Martin and Bagnaia, who have both triumphed several times, sprint races included.
Dovizioso frequently challenged Marquez for the championship while racing for Ducati, and anticipates the competition for the title to continue to be tight.
In a conversation with MotoGP.com, Dovizioso expressed, "It’s been truly thrilling because the bikes are so alike, allowing for maximum competition in every race.
"The journey remains fairly steady without much fluctuation, which is quite pleasant. Participants vary widely, encompassing a diverse range of ages, riding styles, and bicycles. The outcome remains unpredictable, promising an enjoyable experience right through to the conclusion."
Dovizioso has expressed his admiration for the eight-time world champion Marquez's seamless transition to Ducati, notably after Marquez clinched the second official Lenovo Ducati spot for the 2025 season earlier this week.
Dovizioso commented, "Everyone has high expectations for Marc, myself included. Marc has an incredible talent, and his quick adaptation to Ducati is truly remarkable. It's quite challenging."
"Despite the bicycle being top-notch, his braking technique had been entirely unique up until this year, necessitating a modification in his approach to deceleration."
"Even though, from my perspective, it might not be absolutely perfect, the evidence of his skill is undeniable. This only further validates his exceptional abilities."
"He's capable of competing there even if he doesn't have a factory bike. However, I believe he has a slight edge that could be further improved."
