Bagnaia Welcomes Marquez to Ducati Without Influence: A Look into MotoGP’s Powerhouse Team-Up for 2025
Unveiled: Pecco Bagnaia's response to Ducati's acquisition of Marc Marquez
Ducati: Pecco's response was quite positive. He didn't sway us either way.”
Ducati has announced that Francesco Bagnaia, the two-time defending MotoGP champion, did not attempt to sway Ducati's choice in selecting his team-mate for the 2025 season.
Throughout the season, Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez fiercely competed not just during races, but also contended away from the racetrack for the coveted position as Bagnaia's teammate on the official Ducati team.
Approaching the Mugello race, it seemed Martin was selected to team up with Bagnaia.
Concerned about the possibility of Marquez signing with a different brand, Ducati had a change in perspective and decided to secure the eight-time world champion.
Dall'Igna, the General Manager of Ducati Corse, clarified that Bagnaia, despite his earlier expressions of hope for team-mate Enea Bastianini to remain, had no impact on Ducati's decisions.
"Dall'Igna praised Pecco's response during his talk with MotoGP.com, saying, "His reaction was truly impressive. As a professional and a champion, he understands that we aim to provide the best opportunities to contend for the world championship."
"Previously, he was indeed interested in having Enea as a teammate owing to their personal connection. However, as a professional rider, he accepted our choice without imposing any preference on us."
In 2025, Ducati is set to boast what might be considered one of the most formidable MotoGP rosters ever, featuring undoubtedly their most skilled duo of riders to date.
Marquez and Bagnaia have demonstrated their readiness to engage in intense and aggressive competition when facing off against each other.
This raises the question, are they capable of collaborating as team members?
Dall'Igna is confident in their ability, stating, "We need to have the capability to achieve this. It's not going to be simple, but truthfully, I'm familiar with the team and the individuals working under me.
"By collaborating as we did before, we can achieve this."
