Andrea Dovizioso Eyes Sensational MotoGP Return in 2025: ‘The Door is Open
Andrea Dovizioso considers a MotoGP comeback: "Possibility is there"
Andrea Dovizioso acknowledges that a MotoGP return in 2025 could happen.
Andrea Dovizioso, who has finished as a runner-up to Marc Marquez in MotoGP three times and is a former standout for Ducati, is considering a remarkable comeback.
Dovizioso ended his MotoGP career at the conclusion of the 2022 season after racing with Yamaha for two years.
The 38-year-old Italian, who transitioned to motocross after stepping away from grand prix racing, is considering a comeback.
Andrea Dovizioso has secured victory in 15 MotoGP races and spent numerous years competing against Marc Marquez for the world championship title.
In an interview with MotoGP.com at Mugello, Dovizioso discussed the possibility of coming back to MotoGP, saying, "I have no concrete plans, but it's always flattering when a manufacturer reaches out to talk about future opportunities."
"I had this idea when I chose to retire, but I wasn't prepared to act on it because I needed to pause and rest."
“I’ve always kept the door open because I don’t feel too old yet. Everyone is aware of my expertise in improving a bike. Right now, I’m not sure, it’s too soon to say, but the opportunity is there.”
When considering where Dovizioso might come back, Ducati stands out as the most likely place to start, with Gresini also being a potential choice.
The Italian racer might find Honda appealing, especially since the Japanese team might part ways with Joan Mir, and Takaaki Nakagami's future with them is uncertain.
