Thrills and Challenges at Aragon: Binder’s Burnout Woes and Miller’s Rins Encounter
Brad Binder exclaimed, "Once again, I ended up doing a rolling burnout!" Meanwhile, Jack Miller commented on being overtaken by Rins. Binder continued, "I came up with a solid strategy last night to avoid spinning out at the start…"
Brad Binder had his best MotoGP performance since the season began in Qatar, finishing in 4th and 6th place at the Aragon race.
This occurred despite him veering off course in both races, although he managed to secure seventh place on the less chaotic side of a messy starting lineup.
During the race, Binder trailed rookie Pedro Acosta for a considerable portion, a contest that turned into a fight for third place when Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia collided with five laps remaining.
However, Acosta managed to stay slightly ahead.
"I came up with a solid strategy last night to avoid spinning out at the start, and I did another rolling burnout just like I did yesterday!" Binder beamed.
"I navigated my way through and overtook several competitors. It was challenging to avoid errors because the front tire was overheating from following others until the race's final quarter."
"I attempted to recover time by accelerating out of the turns since I couldn't enter them quickly due to the front tire overheating. However, this strategy backfired, and by the end, the left side of the tire was completely worn out."
“I gave it my all to overtake Pedro, but there was no room left behind!”
"Overall, we took several promising strides this weekend. We experimented with the bike's balance, and it appeared to be effective throughout the race."
Fellow racer Jack Miller made an impressive start, climbing from 15th position at the beginning to 8th place by the conclusion of the first lap. However, the Australian quickly encountered issues with maintaining rear tire traction.
After being overtaken by Alex Rins on the final lap and losing his ninth-place position, he was one of three riders penalized with a 16-second post-race penalty for tyre pressure violations, which resulted in him falling to 15th place.
"That was quite a lengthy race," stated Miller. "The track conditions were different once more; it's been dirty throughout most of the weekend, but today it felt more slippery."
"I gave it my all. It was really tough managing the [medium] rear tire, and I had a major highside incident coming out of the final turn."
"I found my pace and focused on maintaining it. There were several challenges when transitioning from the outer to the inner part of the tire, but I managed to finish the race."
"I didn't make any errors during the race, but I had a hard time keeping up with the guys ahead. We'll continue to push forward."
"I’m pleased to finish in the top ten, but Rins overtook me on the back straight during the final lap. I was trying my best to be precise, but I didn't get a good exit and he managed to outpace me down the back straight."
"We will return to Misano."
Test rider Pol Espargaro will be a wild-card entry for KTM, increasing their number of participants to five this weekend.
"Next, we head to Misano, keeping in mind the upcoming test and Pol's wildcard, which will be beneficial for us moving forward," stated team manager Francesco Guidotti.
The initial Misano MotoGP race will commence with Binder trailing Acosta by three points, with Acosta currently in fifth place in the world championship standings.
Miller, who might be formally announced as a Pramac Yamaha rider at the team's home races in Italy, is currently in 15th place, trailing Monster Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo by three points.
