Skoda Octavia Essence (2024): Pricing for the New Entry-Level Model

Starting at just under 27,000 Euros, the major revamp isn't very visible here

Affordable new cars are in demand by both consumers and us. The ADAC recently noted the significant increase in car prices over the past decade. Is it any surprise then that Dacia is nearing a three percent market share in Germany? Skoda is now launching a freshly updated entry-level version of the Octavia.

Skoda expands the Octavia range with the introduction of the base Essence model. This version stands out for its relatively extensive standard features, including LED headlights, dual-zone Climatronic air conditioning, and heated front seats.

Skoda has enhanced the appeal of the fourth generation of its popular Octavia model with a refreshed look. Key highlights of the updated design include revamped front and rear bumpers, as well as a rejuvenated grille. However, the front-end facelift is most noticeable when the adaptive LED headlights are chosen as an option. Traditional interiors have been replaced with what are referred to as "Design Selections."

Until now, Skoda has offered the updated Octavia in its most affordable trim, named Selection. However, they have recently introduced the high-end version of the series, the Octavia RS, which boasts 265 horsepower. They are now completing the Octavia range with the introductory Essence line. Consequently, this introduces a new starting price for the German market: the sedan is available from 26,990 euros, while the station wagon starts at 27,690 euros.

Skoda has equipped the base model with a 1.5 TSI engine, capable of delivering 115 horsepower, paired with a manual six-speed transmission. The same engine also comes in a mild-hybrid version, the 1.5 TSI mHEV, which maintains the power output but is coupled with a seven-speed automatic transmission. For those opting for the Octavia Essence, there's a third choice: a 2.0 TDI engine, also producing 115 horsepower, that comes with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The Octavia Essence comes standard with features like LED headlights, dual-zone Climatronic air conditioning, a leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons, heated front seats, rear parking sensors, and automatic headlight and rain sensors. The Design Selection Studio version features black fabric seats and piano black decor accents. Speaking of colors, a bold solid blue is offered at no additional cost, while the white seen in some of our photos carries an extra charge of 600 euros.

2024 Skoda Octavia Essence Model

From the factory, the car comes with 16-inch steel wheels. If you prefer, you can upgrade to alloy wheels of the same size for an additional 570 Euros. Besides that, the list of optional add-ons is quite limited, with a safety package and a tow hitch being the key features worth mentioning.

The vehicle's connectivity is enhanced by a 10-inch infotainment screen, a pair of USB-C ports, a Bluetooth hands-free system, and a digital dashboard. Quick and effortless smartphone integration with the car is made possible through SmartLink and Wireless SmartLink. In the latest Octavia models, the voice assistant Laura is now bolstered by ChatGPT. With this AI-driven chatbot incorporated, Laura has the capability to respond to an even broader array of inquiries.

Expensive and affordable:

Skoda equips the Octavia from the factory with essential driver assistance features. These include a forward radar assistant with urban emergency braking function, lane-keeping assistant, cruise control, speed limiter, and evasive and turning assistant.
