Silent Glide Meets Powerful March: Bentley Unveils Ultra Performance Hybrid for the Next Flying Spur
The upcoming Bentley Flying Spur is set to feature the brand's latest high-performance hybrid system. This system, which was recently unveiled in Bentley's new Continental GT Speed, is said to transform the new Flying Spur into the most powerful, agile, and fuel-efficient four-door vehicle in Bentley's 105-year history, according to the manufacturer. The luxury sedan will be able to move in complete silence or with vigorous power.
Bentley is set to phase out the existing Flying Spur model, which debuted in 2019, with a new iteration. This upgraded version boasts a formidable 782 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque, thanks to a synergistic blend of a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine and a potent yet compact electric motor. The British automaker heralds this advanced Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain as the brand's step into the future. It promises a versatile range of driving experiences, from high-octane supercar thrills to the quiet, effortless glide of electric luxury cruising.

The latest Flying Spur aims to deliver the quintessential Bentley sedan experience, combining power with serenity, and boasting the added benefit of a silent electric mode that can cover at least 72 kilometers. The total distance the Flying Spur can travel is said to be up to 800 kilometers, with carbon emissions reportedly as low as 40 g/km according to the manufacturer's specifications.
Bentley continues to uphold its heritage of enhancing top-notch internal combustion engines with cutting-edge technology to boost power. In the 1920s, superchargers laid the groundwork for the turbochargers that have been prevalent from the 1980s to the present. Now, Bentley is advancing their performance game by introducing a potent hybrid system, injecting even more power through what they call "electric boosting."

The latest system boasts a significant power increase, delivering nearly 150 horsepower more than the W12 engine found in the current Flying Spur Speed, along with an extra 100 Nm of torque. Thanks to the pairing of a V8 engine with electric power, drivers can enjoy both greater force and torque. This translates to a considerable boost from the electric motor, ensuring rapid acceleration at low to mid-range speeds, while the V8 engine provides a stronger performance at higher speeds.
