Pecco Bagnaia Expresses Concerns Over Potential Impact on Garage Atmosphere with Marc Marquez Joining Ducati
Pecco Bagnaia expresses "worry" about potential "disruption" to the garage environment with Marc Marquez's arrival.
"Our main goal is to keep the garage atmosphere peaceful."
Francesco Bagnaia is "worried" about the "environment" once Marc Marquez joins the team as his teammate, according to Ducati.
In the race to secure the position of the second official Ducati rider for 2025, Marquez emerged victorious, surpassing both Jorge Martin and Enea Bastianini.
A significant topic of discussion will be his connection with the reigning champion, Bagnaia.
Team manager Davide Tardozzi mentioned to Cycle World that "Pecco frequently expresses his desire to maintain the current harmony in the garage."
"He is worried that certain scenarios might harm the environment in the garage."
"This is a priority for us as well. We do not believe that Marc's involvement will cause any issues within the Ducati team."
“We believe we can handle having both Marc and Pecco as champions.”
"Sepang happened nearly a decade ago…"
Another complicating factor is Bagnaia's allegiance to Valentino Rossi, who has been Marquez's long-time rival.
Bagnaia, who was trained at the VR46 Academy, now finds himself in the position of having to work alongside his mentor’s fiercest competitor in the same garage, years after his initial training.
Tardozzi mentioned that although Pecco is a product of Valentino Rossi’s Academy, he is undeniably a strong champion on his own.
“Our main focus is to ensure that the current positive atmosphere in the garage stays the same. It's my responsibility to keep it that way.”
Tardozzi was asked if Italian supporters would welcome Marquez dressed in red.
He was questioned regarding his recollections of the most infamous clashes between Rossi and Marquez.
Tardozzi replied, "It's important to note that the events in Sepang occurred nearly a decade ago."
He explained the reasons for selecting Marquez over Martin or Bastianini.
“We evaluate the rider’s performance and his capacity to improve the bike alongside Pecco to secure championships,” Tardozzi stated.
"We focus on what lies ahead, not on what has already happened."
Additionally, in the sport, there are enthusiasts who support an individual racer, and there are also Ducati loyalists who cheer for the brand.
"We feel incredibly honored and proud to have them with us; it truly means a lot."
