Neuer Aston Martin Vanquish: Die Legende lebt mit einem V12-Motor weiter
The upcoming 2025 Aston Martin Vanquish: The V12 legacy continues
Its stunning carbon fiber body turns heads wherever it goes
For some, nothing but a V12 will do. It doesn't matter that the DB12's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 packs a punch with 680 horsepower and sounds amazing – it's the cylinder count that falls short. That's why Aston Martin is reviving one of the automotive world's most iconic names with a V12 engine: the Vanquish.
Following a six-year hiatus and an unsuccessful attempt at creating a mid-engine supercar, the Aston Martin Vanquish has made a comeback, reverting to its original grand touring (GT) car ethos. This audaciously large, high-powered, and opulent GT features a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that pumps out 835 horsepower and can hit top speeds of 345 km/h.

The engine's basic dimensions mirror those of the previous Aston Martin V12 model, but it has undergone significant modifications to boost both power and torque, reaching an impressive 1,000 Newton-meters. To meet the increasingly stringent emission standards while enhancing performance, the V12 has been equipped with a new engine block, heads, connections, camshafts, connecting rods, turbochargers, fuel injectors, and relocated spark plugs. In essence, it's been completely revamped. According to Aston, the engine bears no resemblance to its predecessor.
Similar to the previous DBS Superleggera, the engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission situated at the rear, but akin to the recent Vantage and the DB12, it possesses an electronically controlled limited-slip differential.
With an impressive output of 160 horsepower per liter, this engine boasts the most significant specific output ever achieved by an Aston Martin V12. As a result, the 2024 Vanquish is at the forefront of an ongoing evolution. Since the debut of the DB7 Vantage in 1999, the performance and torque figures for Aston Martin's premier V12 models have doubled.
Aston Martin Vanquish Model Number 11
The latest V12 engine boasts a range of technical advancements, including a fortified cylinder block and connecting rods, redesigned cylinder heads with re-profiled camshafts, and revamped intake and exhaust ports. The repositioning of spark plugs and the introduction of new fuel injectors with a higher flow rate enhance combustion, leading to top-of-the-class power and increased efficiency. Additionally, new turbochargers designed for higher speeds and reduced inertia contribute to a boost in power and more responsive throttle performance.
The upgrade includes the installation of advanced turbochargers that have a lower inertia and can spin at speeds 15% faster, thus extracting more power from the exhaust gases, boosting the engine, and enhancing the performance of the new V12 engine. Additionally, the engine has been equipped with new injectors that provide a 10% increase in fuel flow, allowing the engine to achieve optimal power output while simultaneously meeting emission standards.
The engine also includes an innovative feature called Boost Reserve, which allows for an increase in turbo pressure beyond what is needed for partial throttle, ensuring that drivers have access to increased pressure for more power whenever necessary. This is achieved through a meticulous calibration of the throttle and the electronic wastegate. Aston Martin has selected a final drive ratio that supports a high top speed while maintaining robust acceleration capabilities – the car can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
Every modern Aston, including the Vanquish, features a bonded and extruded aluminum monocoque chassis. However, unlike the DB12 and Vantage, the Vanquish's body is primarily composed of carbon fiber. Aston Martin lists the dry weight of the vehicle at 1,774 kilograms. The tires are a custom set of Pirelli P-Zeros, with dimensions of 275/35 at the front and 325/30 at the rear. The car's standard equipment also includes forged wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes, which help to reduce unsprung weight.
Additionally, there is a plethora of sophisticated suspension technology. The Vanquish is equipped with Bilstein DTX dampers, similar to those in the new Vantage and the DB12, and it also incorporates a six-axis inertial measurement unit for more accurate management of the dampers, the electronic differential, and the traction/stability control systems. Moreover, a novel feature called Corner Braking has been introduced to maintain rear stability when braking into a turn.
The interior of the Vanquish mirrors the design of other modern Aston Martin vehicles, featuring a revamped central console equipped with tactile controls and a custom-designed entertainment system. Previous models of Aston Martin faced criticism for their lackluster cabin design, but the Vanquish's cockpit appears to be anything but lackluster.
In comparison to the DB12, the Vanquish presents a more expansive profile, being longer, broader, and with a lower stance. The wheelbase stretches nearly 8 centimeters more than its counterpart, and it's overall length has grown by 16.5 centimeters, accompanied by an increase in width of about 6 centimeters. However, a reduction in height gives it a lower profile. It unmistakably bears the Aston Martin signature look, albeit with a more sculpted bonnet at the front and more pronounced bulges at the rear.
The sudden termination of the ridge-tail is a distinctive feature among the latest Aston models and draws inspiration from a collection of vehicles that the company raced with at Le Mans during the 1960s: namely the DP212, DP214, and DP215. Additionally, the silhouette and rear design bear a resemblance to the limited-edition Valour, which in turn pays homage to the robust GTs Aston produced in the 1970s. This marks only the third instance of Aston Martin deploying the Vanquish moniker.
The presence of V12 engines continues in this area as well.
Aston Martin has yet to announce the pricing for the latest Vanquish model, but expectations point to a range starting from 250,000 to 300,000 Euros. The premium price tag compared to the brand's other offerings can be attributed to the exclusive manufacturing cap, as the automaker intends to produce just 1,000 units annually. Customers can anticipate the initial roll-out of the vehicle as early as October 2024.
