Marquez Triumphs in Aragon MotoGP, Bagnaia Crashes After Contact With Alex Marquez
Marc Marquez showcased a commanding performance, leading from start to finish at the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix, while Pecco Bagnaia's race ended prematurely due to a collision with Alex Marquez.
At the Aragon Grand Prix, Marc Marquez secured his first Grand Prix win in more than 1,000 days, achieving it with a commanding performance.
Dominating from start to finish, Marquez showcased remarkable speed and ultimately secured victory, finishing nearly five seconds ahead of Jorge Martin.
Martin increased his lead in the championship to 23 points by finishing second, following Francesco Bagnaia's crash after making contact with Alex Marquez, who also fell during the incident.
Bagnaia skillfully navigated his way up the ranks, overcoming an initial setback caused by his rear tyre losing grip on the unclean portion of the starting grid. He initially found himself in seventh place as the race began, then moved up to sixth following Miguel Oliveira's fall. He advanced to fifth when Franco Morbidelli went off track, and then secured fourth place by capitalizing on a mistake made by Pedro Acosta at turn 16.
After several rounds of pursuit, Marques veered off course at the 12th bend, opening a window for Bagnaia to overtake him entering the 13th corner. However, as Bagnaia maneuvered into the curve, he collided with Marquez, causing both to crash.
Following the race, Bagnaia was taken to the medical center, however, there has been no further information released regarding his status.
The collision advanced Pedro Acosta to third position, though nearly 15 seconds adrift of the leader.
Brad Binder secured a fourth-place finish, while Enea Bastianini climbed to fifth from a 14th-place start. Franco Morbidelli landed in sixth place, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Rins, and Jack Miller, who completed the top 10.
Fabio Quartararo experienced a crash, and Maverick Vinales withdrew from the race as well.
Investigations were initiated post-race regarding Fabio Di Giannantonio, Jack Miller, and Raul Fernandez due to issues with the pressure of their front tires.
