Upcoming 2024 Audi A5: An In-Depth Look at the Interior
Let's explore the dashboard of the successor to the A4.
The Audi mid-size sedan and estate, formerly known as the A4, have been rebranded as the A5. It's a total overhaul, from the powertrains to the aesthetics. By the way, the previous A5 versions, ranging from the Sportback to the Convertible, have been discontinued without direct replacements.
The interior has undergone changes as well, now featuring the latest technology from Ingolstadt and maintaining its usual high-quality appearance. Let's take a closer look at the cockpit.
Audi A5: The Dashboard
The interior design of the latest Audi A5 adopts a more angular approach, continuing the style seen in previous Audi A4 models. However, the dashboard's layout and instruments mark a significant departure from the A4 it succeeds.
The A5 comes equipped with a new 11.9-inch driver's display, in addition to a 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen for the infotainment system (MMI Touch) that's angled toward the driver. There's also an optional 10.9-inch MMI display available for the passenger side. This screen is designed to be visible to the passenger only while the vehicle is in motion, to prevent distractions for the driver. The S5 model pictured here features the same setup for its instruments.
The central tunnel area has also been redesigned and now features new controls for the vehicle's various functions as well as for starting the engine. Additionally, this section houses the flat selector lever for the automatic transmission, which takes the form of a 7-speed DSG.
The vehicle comes equipped with features such as an electric steering wheel adjustment, a large sunroof with an electric shade, and a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system that includes speakers integrated into the front headrests. Additionally, the head-up display boasts a screen that is 85 percent larger than its predecessor's model. For the first time, the driver can also control car and infotainment functions directly through the head-up display.

Material and Craftsmanship of the Audi A5
The seating is upholstered with premium leather, available in a variety of colors, complemented by sleek black piano lacquer on much of the dashboard. This level of detail extends to the door panels of the mid-size Audi, adorned with touches of brushed aluminum. Attention to detail is evident even in the more concealed areas of the cabin, with the seat design varying according to the selected model.

Opting for the S5 model means you'll get sport seats featuring more prominent side supports, while the steering wheel will sport a different spoke design.
Space in the new A5
In terms of spaciousness, the updated design has not compromised on in-cabin comfort at all. In fact, the wheelbase has been extended by 80 mm, providing rear passengers with significantly more legroom, while also increasing headroom.
Further details on the latest Audi A5:
The sedan's trunk space ranges from 445 to 1,299 liters, while the station wagon offers 476 to 1,424 liters. This is indeed slightly less than before. There is no double floor for additional storage space, as this area now houses the 48-volt battery for the new MHEV-Plus engines.
